Behind nearly everything made in America is a long chain of people who form it, weld it, assemble it, move it, maintain it, and make sure it works.

This Labor Day, D&H Industries celebrates the skilled workforce that keeps American production running and keeps our economy moving.

Thank you to everyone who puts their experience, effort, and pride into the work.

Happy Labor Day.

Now hiring a Quality Technician for 2nd shift in Oconomowoc, plus a $3.00/hour shift premium on top of your regular pay.

Why people stay with us:
• See a doctor on-site during your shift, no lost hours or lost pay
• Paid weekly, not every other week
• Cross-training opportunities, so you're building new skills instead of doing the same task every day
• Up to $2,000/year in tuition reimbursement

You'll handle first piece, in-process, and final inspection using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges, and help catch problems before they become bigger ones. Blueprint reading and PPAP/FMEA experience helps, and D&H will cover your CWI certification if you want to pursue it.

Managing four or five vendors across a single stamped assembly is one of those problems that compounds quietly. Lead times stack. Blame shifts when dimensions drift between suppliers. And the program manager ends up spending time on coordination instead of engineering.

D&H Industries runs progressive die stamping, deep draw, robotic and traditional welding, CNC machining, hardware insertion, and complete assembly under two ISO 9001:2015 certified roofs in Oconomowoc, WI. Nearly 200,000 sq ft, presses from 100 to 2,000 tons, materials from cold-rolled steel to aluminum to high-strength grades. The scope is there because procurement teams asked for it over decades, not because it looked good on a capabilities sheet.

For programs where dimensional consistency across welded and formed features actually matters, having one supplier control the metal from coil to finished assembly removes a real category of variation. Details on the full process range are at dhmetalstamping.com.

How many vendors does your current stamped assembly program touch, and where does the hand-off friction usually show up?

Procurement teams managing multiple vendors for stamping, welding, and assembly know the hidden cost: tracking four suppliers instead of one means four sets of lead times, four quality audits, four points where a part can get delayed before it reaches your line.

D&H Industries runs stamping, robotic and traditional welding, CNC machining, hardware insertion, and complete assembly under two ISO 9001:2015 certified roofs in Oconomowoc, WI. That structure (dhmetalstamping.com) exists because engineering teams kept arriving with finished stamp drawings that still needed secondary ops completed somewhere else before the part was usable.

Consolidating those steps does not just reduce administrative load. It removes handoff variation, which is often where dimensional consistency breaks down between processes.

For teams sourcing complex assemblies, the question is usually not whether single-source is better in theory. It is whether a given shop can actually execute across all the required operations.

What has been your experience keeping dimensional consistency across multiple suppliers on a single assembly?

Choosing between progressive die and deep draw stamping is not always obvious at the quoting stage, and the wrong call early on shows up later as cost overruns or tooling rework. Progressive die runs well for flat or moderately formed parts with multiple features completed in a single pass through the die. Deep draw is the right answer when you need a cup, shell, or enclosure form where material has to flow significantly in the Z-axis without tearing or thinning unevenly.

The problem is that a lot of buyers get quotes from shops that only do one or the other, so the process gets selected by whoever is quoting, not necessarily by what the geometry actually requires.

D&H runs both processes across presses from 100 to 2,000 tons (dhmetalstamping.com), which means process selection gets made against the part, not against shop capacity constraints.

Have you ever inherited a stamped part that was clearly tooled for the wrong process? What tipped you off?

Managing four or five vendors across a single stamped assembly is a coordination problem that compounds with every revision cycle. Tolerances set in one shop get interpreted differently in the next, and by the time a fit issue surfaces, the paper trail is already a mess.

D&H Industries runs progressive die stamping, deep draw, welding, CNC machining, hardware insertion, and complete assembly under two roofs in Oconomowoc, WI (dhmetalstamping.com). That means a single revision gets applied once, not cascaded across a supplier network hoping everyone gets the memo.

ISO 9001:2015 certification covers both facilities, so the quality documentation that procurement needs for approved supplier lists is already in place. Press capacity runs from 100 to 2,000 tons across aluminum, stainless, cold-rolled steel, and high-strength materials, which covers a wide range of part geometries without splitting the work.

How many vendors are you currently managing across a single part family, and has consolidation ever come up as a real option or does it stay a whiteboard conversation?

We were proud to welcome Chris Leahr home from the Middle East with a special gathering at D&H Industries.

American Legion Post 91 Commander Tamara Key presented Chris with a certificate, Post coin, and one-year membership, while the D&H team came together to recognize his service and celebrate his return. We were also honored to present Chris with a commemorative bench as part of the occasion.

Thank you to American Legion Post 91, Commander Key, and everyone who helped make this a meaningful welcome home.
