DWE has five (5) openings for Cultural Resources Specialist I (Archaeological Field Technicians) positions to conduct a Class III cultural resources inventory of the Great Basin Transmission (LS Power) Southwest Intertie Project (Idaho). These individuals will assist the Field Director and overall Project team in completing archaeological pedestrian surveys, archeological site recordation, and other field or office tasks in support of the Project.

The Project consists of approximately 140 miles of linear transmission line corridor (76 miles) and its access roads (64 miles). Archeological sites noted during the survey will be recorded using Idahoโs Archaeological Survey of Idaho (ASI) site form and Idaho Historic Sites Inventory (IHSI) form. Archaeological site types expected to fall within the Project corridor include, but are not limited to, prehistoric lithic scatters, historical debris scatters, and mining, agricultural, and transportation features. The Project is located between Twin Falls, Idaho and Jackpot, Nevada. Additional fieldwork on future projects may also be available after this project is completed.

โข BA/BS or MA/MS in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field is preferred.
โข Individuals who have completed an archaeological field school will also be considered.
โข Qualified applicants must be able to work in harsh conditions while hiking 7-10 miles a day over rough terrain, carrying up to 30 pounds.
โข Great Basin and/or Rocky Mountain experience is preferred but not required.

โข $22/hour, overtime is paid over 40 hours per week.

Estimated to start the week of 06/12/2023, depending on staffing. Project is expected to last up to 10 days for survey and 20 days for site recording, for a crew of six. Workdays will be 9-10 hours long, including workday travel time, and field sessions are five (5) days on and two (2) days off (hotel paid by Company seven days per week).

Qualified applicants will report directly to the Field Director and will conduct Class III pedestrian survey (30m transects) of a minimum of seven (7) miles per day and record archaeological sites identified during the survey. No collection of artifacts is anticipated, and no subsurface testing will be performed. The terrain is primarily rolling hills, with some mountainous conditions.
