💡 Tech Tip Tuesday 💡

Stop waiting for that 3 AM chirp.

It always happens when you’re in a deep sleep. You spend twenty minutes wandering the halls like a ghost, trying to figure out which detector is dying.

Do yourself a favor: replace your smoke detector batteries this week. It’s a five-minute job that saves your sanity and your safety.

If you’re a Denco customer with integrated smoke detectors, you can skip the midnight hunt. Your system will notify your phone that the battery is low long before the chirping starts.

Pro-tip for our Ogden neighbors: If you need a Carbon Monoxide detector, stop by the Municipal Building. Residents can pick one up for just $10. That’s a small price for peace of mind.

Worried your fire system isn't up to code or actually working?

Message us. We’ll make sure you’re tagged for compliance and truly protected.

Your keypad might be giving away your security code.

We see this in Ogden homes all the time: keypads where three or four numbers are worn down, shiny, or faded while the others look brand new.

If someone is standing at your door, it doesn’t take much to figure out which numbers you’re pressing. It’s a security risk that most people completely overlook.

The wear pattern on your keypad is basically a map to your home.

Simple fix: Change your code every few months to even out the wear on the buttons.

Better fix: Upgrade to a modern touchscreen keypad. They don’t show physical wear and are much harder to "read" from a distance.

If your keypad looks like the one in this photo, it’s worth taking a look before it becomes a problem.

Message us if you want to upgrade or if you’re ready for a free security review.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Dust and cobwebs are the top causes of false alarms.

A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth keeps your sensors sharp and prevents unnecessary wake-up calls.

Keep it clean for peace of mind.

Summer storms in Ogden don't care about your security.

When the power goes out, your system relies entirely on its backup battery to keep your home protected.

Most people don't realize their battery is dead until the lights go out. By then, it’s too late: your cameras are off and your sensors are down.

Check your keypad today. If you see a "low battery" light or a trouble code, your backup is likely expired.

These batteries typically last about 3 to 5 years. If it’s been longer than that, it’s worth taking a look before the next storm rolls through.

Message us if you want us to check your system or help with a replacement.

Don't wait for a power outage to find out your system is down.

Is your alarm going off for no reason?

It’s usually not a ghost. It’s probably a cobweb.

We see this all the time in Ogden. Dust and spider webs on your motion sensors are the #1 cause of "phantom" false alarms.

A tiny web moving in front of the lens is enough to trigger the system and ruin your peace of mind.

The fix is simple: grab a dry cloth and give your sensors a quick wipe once a month.

Keep them clean, and your system stays sharp.

If your sensors are still acting up after a cleaning, give us a call. We’ll make sure everything is calibrated correctly.
