We love full circle moments! Very few things are more satisfying than seeing a piece you’ve worked hard on bring together the space it was designed for. This antiqued Portuguese-style faux tile mural on crackled gesso was an honor to complete for this gorgeous indoor/outdoor pool space. Thank you Peggy Appleton and Platner Studio for always being a joy to work with!

Some jobs allow you to comfortably sit in your experience and skill to create something that feels familiar and safe—those jobs are beautiful. This was not one of those jobs. From formulating a new antiqued bronze glass finish to experimenting with reverse glass abalone inlay to growing our capacity to ground another’s inspiration into reality, this piece of Verre églomisé stretched JMD beyond our artistic limits into new and exciting creative territory. And the results are stunning! Stay tuned to see this piece installed in the space it was designed for!

Never stop challenging yourself as an artist; always rise to meet your creative visions. It’s worth the effort! As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “nothing in this world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, and difficulty.” Of course we had fun on this piece, too, but the challenge is what made this accomplishment special to JMD.

This commercial office space underwent a stunning renovation to which we contributed our work: antiqued charcoal glazes over crackled gesso, smoky gunmetal silver details, classical decoration. Doors, cabinets, baseboard and crown molding, light fixtures, interior, exterior, the whole shebang. We are honored to have our voice sprinkled throughout this beautiful building.

A gorgeous limestone fireplace—or is it?

JMD was presented with the task of creating a beautiful and historical looking faux finish mimicking intricately carved stone. This project is from the archives, but its beauty and accomplishment deserves to be shared again! A bubble bath dream!

Meet Winston, our giant rotisserie easel and valued team member! Such a unique craft as églomisé often requires innovation in our process of creation. As glass is transparent, and the viewing side of églomisé is different than the working side, we wanted to be able to have a better visual of what was happening on the surface at any given moment. So Winston was born— brainstormed and prototyped by our woodworking mad scientist friend. Winston has really made a huge difference in our ability to create!

Bonus: a peek at the final vision for the glass that you see Jacqueline working on here. Abalone inlay and intricate tendrils inspired by custom Breedlove guitars. It’a gonna be a showstopper— stay tuned for the final reveal of this one!

A gorgeous “tile” mural; an enlargement of one of our old Spanish/Portuguese style samples. Hand-distressed glazes over antiqued and crackled gesso. For the amazing and talented ! Fit to replace a window where the client does not want visibility between two spaces anymore. Stay tuned for the incredible églomisé piece we have planned for the reverse side!

Ishtar Stars 🌟

A timeless classic. We’ve got some exciting plans for this design— think églomisé, textiles, and more!

Ishtar looks wonderful in any color or metal. The first slide was accomplished with hand-stained translucent glazes over gesso, engraving, and distressed silver leaf. The second was accomplished similarly over a silver leaf base. As the tiles are laid across a surface, the design becomes more and more complete.

This glamorous Art Deco églomisé triptych we did for the old Pl***oy Mansion tested us in many ways. It features some of the most geometrically precise work we’ve done on glass as well as some of the largest single panels we have had to work on. Moving these bad boys was an arm workout to say the least! This project also required us to develop a new technique for installation using custom H clips that creates a seamless visual across the panels. It remains a huge accomplishment for JMD, and we are glad that the current owner/resident of the estate loves it too! It definitely gives Great Gatsby energy reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hollywood when the manor was originally designed and built! 🌟
