Drop by the Grange Building at the County Fair this weekend. Okanogan Grange is featuring the vermiculture composting endeavors of Tonasket School Garden founder Ton Rietveld. Last year, Ton (pronounced Tone) composted over 20,000 pounds of food waste from the Tonasket School Cafeteria. The worms castings are a rich fertilizer. Check the large bin for the crew of working worms under the watermelon slices. There is an empty bin showing how you can create your own large capacity worm farm. Also featured is a shaker table to separate the castings from the "cocoons" (worm eggs) and a tray of castings.

Wedges and feathers are poised in the holes awaiting the tapping and tensioning to begin. As the wedges tighten, the musical note in the stone rises until one tap splits the stone, thankfully cleanly, along the line.

I never get tired of this portion of a job. I get to sit back and watch the plotter cutter draw a full size copy of the project. The cutting stylus is replaced by the ball point pen stylus and the plotter cutter draws the project on paper to get a full size idea of balance and composition. Also it's a great way for the customer to preview the project.

Caliper measurement at 2.122 inches. Center indexing the wood with the help of a 60 degree tail live center. This cylinder will be a centering chuck for my threading jig.... if it all works. Been mulling this jig for two weeks.
