Happy ! MFA Executive Director Nicole F. Doyle and MFA Board Member Joe Doyle (unrelated) recently traveled to Washington D.C. to thank members of the Great Lakes congressional delegation for appropriations that benefit Michigan family forest landowners, foresters and loggers and applaud their continued support of forestry and forest-industry initiatives across the region.

Happy ! Can I tell you a good story?

MFA's Neighbor Network had a big spring season, expanding from to and .conservation. These conservation districts now act as hubs to connect private landowner to assist with each others' tree plantings. Throughout the spring season we held tree planting workshops and networking events so Neighbors could learn together and build community. Across these three counties we now have over 120 Neighbors ready to plant trees.

Earlier this month we had a tree planting in each participating county, where Neighbors gathered together to get trees in the ground. Thanks to dibble bars supplied by , we got over 2,160 bareroot seedlings planted. These were all purchased from the conservation district Neighbor Network hubs' spring seedling sales.

Want to learn more? Connect with MFA's Outreach Forester Ellie Johnson and she'd love to talk to you more about this project. β˜€οΈπŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸͺΎπŸŒŽ

Happy ! Sunday we met up with District Forester Jacob Grochowski of Presque Isle ConservationDistrict (.conservation) to plant some seedlings from their spring sale at Herman Vogler Conservation Area. We used dibble bars made for us special by students at the Industrial Arts Insitute () to stock Neighbor Network tool libraries that landowners can check out when conducting their own tree plantings. Dibble bars are commonly used for planting plugs and other conifer bareroot nursery stock, especially in wetland soil types. Please enjoy Jacob's perfect form and the beginning of a new life chapter for this happy little tree. β˜€οΈπŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸͺΎ
