This house was overrun by years worth of items. When our customer began having severe medical issues, it became too much for one person to handle.

When our customer was hospitalized for a long period of time, she hired someone she thought she could trust to care for her pet. Instead, they allowed the dog to use the bathroom in the house, for months. Then, the mice came inside.

We are so grateful that our customer trusted us to come in, remove the trash, and complete a deep clean on the house. While there is still lots of work to complete on the home, she is one step closer to having the safe, functional home that she deserves. No judgement, just help when it’s needed.

As restoration experts, we’re often asked to complete various tasks at the homes we work in. In this situation, our customer had installed a new air conditioning unit and was unsure how to replace the filter. While we were there clearing the hoarded areas, she asked us to show her how to change the filter.

We weren’t expecting the old filter to be so packed, especially with hair! Every day we get to see something new. Do you think we should start checking the air filters at all hoards?

🚨 CW: Animal Hoarding & Neglect 🚨

The recent discovery of 36 Border Collies living in deplorable conditions in a Florida home has brought animal hoarding back into the spotlight.

Animal hoarding is more than having too many pets. Research has found connections between animal hoarding and the same patterns of attachment, difficulty letting go, and lack of insight that can occur with other forms of hoarding.

But understanding how hoarding develops does not excuse neglect.

When the number of animals becomes greater than someone’s ability to safely care for them, the consequences can be devastating for both the animals and the people living in the home.

Our hearts are with the animals involved in this case and the people working to get them healthy, safe, and into better living conditions. ❤️

If you’re concerned about an animal’s well-being, don’t ignore it. Contact your local animal control agency, humane society, or animal welfare organization. Early intervention can make a difference.
