Hello, All. I have noticed a very bad problem as of late concerning the coin collecting industry. Why is it that people, that really have no knowledge of a coin's value, will come to your place of business and argue with you, because they found the same coin on the internet for lots more money? First, If you are going to play that game at least know what you are talking about. Know the differences in grades, conditions, mint marks, metal content, mintages, etc. Second, Have a print out of your EXACT coin in the EXACT grade that says the amount you found on the internet, is what someone is willing to pay not the similar coin listed for sale----VERY BIG DIFFERENCE. Third, Don't call me all kinds of names going out my door after I have made a more than reasonable offer at 11 o'clock in the morning, and then come back at 5pm and expect me to buy said item, because you drove all over town and found out that I did really make the best offer.
The coin business is a dying business. There are very few new collector's and before long coin collecting is going to go the way of the dodo. But, I enjoy it. I have since I was 6 years old. But, this new influx of people, mainly under the age of 25, that have inherited or otherwise come across coins, are making what used to be fun, not fun anymore.
For those who don't know me. I didn't just fall off of the turnip truck. I may not be the world's leading expert on numismatics, but I do know enough. And it is very troublesome when someone who doesn't know a silver dollar from a glazed donut tries to tell me my job.
I wish nothing but the best to all who enter my shop, whether they are buying or selling. But, please don't wish me ill will, because I offered $14.00 for something that someone on-line offered $14.25 for ( But, you have to pay to ship it to them registered insured).
Sorry for the rant. Happy New YEAR!!!
