🌱 ✂️ MOWING HEIGHT MATTERS! ✂️🌱

🏠 Florida Homeowners: Are Your Cutting Your Grass Too Short?

Did you know that mowing your lawn at the proper height is one of the easiest ways to keep it healthy, green, and strong?

Cutting your grass too short can stress your lawn, weakend its root system, and make it more vulnerable to w**ds, drought, and pest damage.

🌱 Recommended Mowing Heights for Florida Lawns:
✅ St. Augustine Grass: 3.5-4 inches (most varieties)
✅ Zoysia Grass: 1-2.5 inches (depending on variety and mower)
✅ Bahia Grass: 3-4 inches
✅ Bermuda Grass: 0.5-1.5 inches (depending on variety and mower)

💡Assuregreen Lawn Care Tips💡
📌 Never remove more than 1/3 of the grass blade at one time.
📌 Keep your mower blades sharp for a clean, health cut.
📌 Avoid mowing when your lawn is stressed from drought.
📌 Taller grass can help shade the soil, retain moisture, and discourage w**d growth.

🌞Remember: A healthy Florida lawn starts with proper mowing habits! Even the best fertilization and pest control programs work better when your grass is maintained at the correct height.

🍂 LARGE PATCH: WHAT HOMEOWNERS NEED TO KNOW 🍂

As temperatures cool and moisture sticks around longer, Large Patch fungus can become more noticeable in St. Augustine and other warm-season lawns.

Large Patch often appears as yellow, orange, or brown circular areas that can continue to spread when conditions are favorable.

🌱 Can Large Patch be Cured or prevented?

Unfortunately, there is no treatment that can guarantee Large Patch will be cured or completely prevented. Fungicide treatments are designed to help control and suppress the fungus, reduce its spread, and give that lawn a better opportunity to recover.

Even with proper treatment, Large Patch can return when environmental conditions favor fungal activity.

⁉️ WHAT CAN HOMEOWNERS DO TO HELP?

-Avoid overwatering, especially during cooler weather
-Water early in the morning rather than at night
-Make sure irrigation is not keeping the lawn constantly wet
-Allow affected areas time to recover

At Assuregreen, our goal is to identify activity early, provide treatments to help keep it under control, and educate our customers on what they can do to help their lawn recover.

Rainy Weather Reminder from Assuregreen!

With all the recent rain we’ve been getting, now is a great time to check your irrigation system and make a few adjustments.
If it’s raining, there’s no need to run your irrigation system.

Overwatering can:
• Promote lawn diseases and fungus
• Stress your grass by keeping roots too wet
• Waste water and increase your utility bill
• Wash away valuable nutrients from your lawn

Take a few minutes to:
 Turn off your irrigation during rainy periods.
 Make sure your rain sensor is working properly.
 Check for broken sprinkler heads or areas that may be watering sidewalks instead of your lawn.
 Resume watering only when your lawn begins to dry and needs it.

A healthy Florida lawn needs the right amount of water-not the most water. Let Mother Nature do the work when she can!
Have questions about your lawn? Our team is always happy to help.

🚨 **Why Are Chinch Bugs So Difficult to Control?** 🚨

If you've noticed brown patches in your St. Augustine lawn this summer, chinch bugs may be the culprit—but there's another challenge many homeowners don't know about...

**Southern chinch bugs in Florida have developed resistance to several used insecticides.** That means simply spraying your lawn with the same product over and over may not provide the control it once did. UF/IFAS researchers have documented resistance to multiple insecticide classes, making proper identification, monitoring, and rotating treatment methods more important than ever.

🌱 **What can homeowners do?**
✔️ Watch for yellowing or browning patches that continue to spread.
✔️ Inspect the edge where healthy grass meets damaged grass for chinch bugs.
✔️ Maintain proper mowing, watering, and fertilization to reduce lawn stress.
✔️ Don't assume every brown spot is chinch bugs—fungus, drought stress, and irrigation issues can look very similar.
✔️ If chinch bugs are confirmed, professional management using the right products and treatment strategy is critical.

At **Assuregreen**, we continuously stay informed on the latest University of Florida research and adjust our treatment strategies to help manage resistant chinch bug populations as effectively as possible.

📖 We'd also like to share this excellent article from the University of Florida (UF/IFAS) that explains why chinch bug resistance is becoming such a challenge and what homeowners should know:

💧🌱 **Is Your Irrigation System Watering Your Entire Lawn? Here's a Quick Coverage Check You Can Do at Home!** 🌱💧

Uneven watering is one of the leading causes of brown spots, thinning turf, w**d growth, and increased insect activity in Florida lawns. Fortunately, checking your irrigation coverage is simple!

✅ **How to Perform an Irrigation Coverage Check:**

1️⃣ Turn on one irrigation zone at a time.
2️⃣ Walk your property and look for dry spots, areas with little spray, or sprinkler heads that aren't rotating properly.
3️⃣ Place several small containers (such as tuna cans or cups) throughout the zone to see if water is being distributed evenly.
4️⃣ Check for overspray onto sidewalks, driveways, and streets.
5️⃣ Make sure sprinkler heads are not blocked by grass, shrubs, or landscape features.

⚠️ **Signs of poor irrigation coverage:**
• Brown or stressed areas
• Excessive w**ds
• Fungus problems
• Insect damage
• Areas that remain soggy or dry

At **Assuregreen**, we know that proper irrigation is the foundation of a healthy lawn. Even the best fertilization and pest control program can only perform as well as the irrigation system allows.

🌿 **The lawn you want, without the hassle.**
