Quick little trick for fitting an O-type pinion (Lonex helical in this case) to the Vanguard shaft. Assembly on the Vanguard is different vs. the older Warhead motors, and as such, these are a lot easier to press a pinion onto since you don't have to desolder the ESC.

However, when attempting this with a typical pinion tool, you'll have an issue with keeping things aligned as you press the pinion into place, especially as the bottom crank on the pinion tool has a tiny little short nub that is designed to index into a traditional motor end bell.

To make this easier, you can take an aluminum piston base (the section the bearings would go around), drill one half out of it out to the same diameter as the motor shaft, and the other end should be left alone as this will index perfectly on the that little nub on the pinion tool. Now you can press things together without issue. You should take care to not make the drilled out hole too deep since you want to apply the pressure directly to the shaft, not the rotor.

***Make sure you have the tower and top plate of the Vanguard set in place before pressing the pinion in***

Been seeing a lot of E&C's roll in the doors lately. These are relatively inexpensive and lightweight entry-level AEG's that derive some of their internal inspiration from VFC; albeit with a more positive selector switch compared to an Avalon series. Just like a VFC, the stock internals are pretty much dogwater, but these are also very easy to work on and are about as bog standard Ver. 2 as you can get. If you just want the form factor and aren't too fussed about total authenticity and having trades, these are a good base to build something nice on.

This one was built for one of the local team members from the 208 Strykers!

Specs:

- Lambda Five 6.05 stainless steel barrel
- Gen. 3 TruHop
- MAXX M4A CNC rotary chamber
- E&C 8mm QCS gearbox, radiused

Quick little Monday tip: Sometimes that annoying 'sproingy' noise you hear from your AEG is not actually emanating from the main spring in the gearbox.

On M4 platforms specifically, this is often coming from the forward assist spring. The easiest way to nip it is to drift out the pin and brush some thick grease onto the spring, then reassemble. Since this part is rarely - if ever - operated, the grease will stay in place nearly indefinitely.
