In honor of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, on May 10, the City of Olympia painted the crosswalk at Columbia Street and Legion Avenue with eight colors of the pride rainbow. We chose the eight-color version of the pride rainbow flag for this crosswalk to honor and remember a revolutionary time period for LGBTQIA+ rights during the 1970s.

The crosswalk painting is part of a Crosswalk Transformation pilot project, timed to be completed for the monthlong recognition of LGBTQIA+ Pride in June. An event to commemorate the project is planned for June 1 from 1-2 p.m. on Columbia Street and Legion Way. There will be a temporary road closure in effect from noon to 3 p.m. during the festivities.

For 🏳️‍🌈Pride Month🏳️‍🌈 and in support of the LGBTQIA+ community, the City of Olympia - Government is painting rainbow flag crosswalks around our corner of downtown Olympia! Roads will be closed at the crosswalks tomorrow, May 10, from 8am-4pm, for the project. EverWorks is located at the green star on the pictured map, almost literally central to the project!
