The Whitener Group

The Whitener Group Owners: Bob Whitener, Ron Whitener and Jennifer Whitener Ulrich.

We believe that sharing knowledge among tribes is one of the most important ways to achieve this. Our team wants to share our experience in Indian Country as well as bring together other great minds to advance our common goals. We seek to do this through individual contracts with Tribes, tribally owned businesses, tribal organizations and non-profits. We feel we can also facilitate continued advan

cement in Indian Country through creating unique and productive seminars, events and trainings that are industry and tribally specific. The Whitener Group also believes that assisting those corporations and organizations that want to work with tribes will help advance tribal objectives. Traditional organizations that have never worked in Indian Country sometimes need assistance navigating the legal and cultural frameworks of tribal communities.

Getting to learn a traditional beaver teeth dice game at Cow Creek’s VAWA event was my (Jenn here) favorite part of the conference. We laughed, lied and learned some of their language all at the same time. I even found a fellow lover of random Lamprey fun facts.

Sometimes a site visit to a tribe results in a hidden stash of pumpkin spice sauce! And that combined with the amazing EA Lauren’s Starbucks work experience, plus having a supply of Rose Chai results in our own even better pumpkin cream chai for an early afternoon pick me up ♥️ (and yes I know we hardly ever post on socials and YES I do believe this chai warrants a post).

Our team may be spread across the states this week juggling projects, trainings, and many, many Zoom calls—but our tiny crew at home still carved out a moment to wear orange today. 🧡

We know the team members not with us in person today are supporting in spirit as they continue their important work across the country.

Sure, we’re smiling and being a little goofy in these pics—but today isn’t just about making a fashion statement. Today, we wear orange to stand with survivors, honor their stories, and remember together as a community. We remind ourselves that Every Child Matters.

Last night the TWG crew showed up and showed out at the Annual Water Sounds Art Gala hosted by the Squaxin Island Museum. It’s always a treat when staff, friends, and partners trade their work hats for a night of art and community. We loved coming together to support such an important cause — and yes, we’re already counting down to next year.

This Is Native Land presents contemporary teachings from Tribal traditions, history, and culture through multimedia pieces, artwork, and interactive experiences, all from the perspective of Native people.

This Is Native Land opens to the public on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma. Learn more at: https://bit.ly/thisisnativeland

Meet Cassondra, TWG’s Associate Justice Consultant!

Armed with both a JD and an MSW from Michigan State, Cassondra is passionate about weaving law and social work together to create meaningful change. At TWG, she’s the always optimistic, detail-driven force behind tribal court assessments, bench books, and facilitations—and when it comes to conferences and trainings, she’s our very own “Talk Show Host” MC, keeping everyone engaged (we’re seriously looking into getting her a bejeweled Britney mic).

Beyond all her skills, Cassondra is one of the kindest people you’ll meet and is always the first to jump in and help wherever she can. We appreciate all the help and skills she brings to the TWG team.

Late post but still want to share. 😀

The Justice Team traveled to the Native Village of Selawik for another Tribal Court Assessment.

Selawik is a resilient community currently facing immense grief. Please hold them in your thoughts. 🙏🏼

We are thankful for their warm hospitality during our visit and appreciate the opportunity to support their ongoing progress with the tribal court.
