Most families don't ask about hospice care until they feel like they're out of options. But hospice isn't a last resort β€” it's a form of support that can meaningfully improve quality of life for months.

We're breaking down some of the most common misconceptions around hospice care, and sharing how home care and hospice services can work together to fill the gaps families often don't see coming.

Read more on the blog.

The Persistent Misconception That’s Costing Families Quality Time When healthcare professionals and families ask, β€œIsn’t hospice care only for the final days of life?” they’re perpetuating one of the most harmful myths in palliative and end-of-life care. This misconception delays crucial c...

Some caregivers complete tasks. Others change lives.

Ashia Sells, Lead Caregiver at A Place At Home - Lafayette, was named our 2026 Caregiver of the Year β€” recognized in front of the entire A Place At Home network at this year's Convention in Omaha.

In two years, Ashia has become the kind of caregiver families never forget. She sat with a client through hospice and carried his family through their grief with grace. She helped another client reclaim his independence by introducing online grocery ordering when the store became too overwhelming. For a client whose dementia is progressing rapidly, she shows up every day with patience and dignity β€” and his family now considers her one of their own. She earned her CNA certification while working full time and raising her son. She leads as our Lead Caregiver in Lafayette. And she does all of it quietly, without seeking recognition.

This one was well deserved, Ashia. All of us at A Place at Home and Dovida North America are so proud. πŸ’›

Agency or registry β€” what's the difference, and why does it matter?

When the time comes to find care for a loved one, the options can feel overwhelming. But not all in-home care is structured the same way, and understanding the difference could save you a lot of stress down the road.

We broke it down on the blog. Read more here.

Agency or registry? Which is the better option when searching for care for you or a loved one? In this blog, we take a look at the difference between them.

She started as a caregiver. Now she's the owner.

Last week, one of our Business Performance Coaches, Jennifer Axelrod, visited Lynn Qualls of A Place At Home - Pearland β€” and it was exactly the kind of visit that reminds us why this work matters.

Lynn knows this industry from the inside. Invaluable experience gained through years of care is directly translating to how Lynn is connecting with her community and building her team.

During the visit, Jennifer and Lynn got out into Pearland and the greater Houston area β€” meeting with teams at PAM Health Rehab, Gentiva Hospice, Trinity Oaks Pearland, Sinceri Senior Living Creekside Memory Care, and Brookdale Pearland. Building those relationships is part of how we make sure the right families find the right care at the right time.

They also made a stop in Sugar Land to have lunch with Neil Patel, our A Place At Home - Sugar Land franchise owner, because great support looks like owners showing up for each other, too.

We're proud of what's being built in Pearland. And we're proud of Lynn.

April is Parkinson's Awareness Month.

More than 1 million Americans are living with Parkinson's disease β€” and behind each of them is often a family navigating something they never expected.

In-home care can make a meaningful difference for those living with Parkinson's, helping people maintain independence, routine, and dignity in a place that feels like home.

If your family is in that season, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Great care takes a great team β€” and that includes the partners who help make moments like this possible.

We're grateful to Ascension Business Solutions for returning as a sponsor of our 2026 Convention coming up next month.

Their work supporting healthcare organizations means they understand the commitment it takes to show up for seniors and families every day. We're thankful to have them in our corner.

Caring for a loved one with dementia is one of the hardest things a family can face. The emotional weight, the uncertainty, the feeling that you're navigating it alone β€” it adds up.

Through our partnership with Pocket RN and the GUIDE Program, eligible families can access up to 72 hours of respite care and 24/7 virtual nursing support β€” at no cost to Medicare beneficiaries.

It's the kind of support that changes things. For families who need breathing room. And for owners who want to be part of a network that's actively expanding what in-home care can look like.

Bringing 24/7 virtual nursing support and respite care to families at no cost through Medicare’s groundbreaking dementia care initiative Supporting Families Through Every Step of the Dementia Journey At A Place At Home, we understand that caring for a loved one with dementia can feel overwhelming,...
