Frost is probably showing up tonight. Kind of a bummer.

So here's something to think about while the boat's put away: the XStar 25. MasterCraft's flagship. "Bold Move" is the family line, and it's a fitting one.

It's the boat for the crew that wants the big wake, the big helm and the big day, every time. For 2027 it gets Progressive AutoLaunch, so the boat smooths out as it gets up on plane, plus a redesigned Heritage bimini and better bow storage.

Who's the X24 for?

It's for the family that never goes to the lake alone. The one whose boat ends up with the cousins, the neighbors, and two kids nobody remembers inviting.

The X24 seats 17. There's room for everybody's boards, bags, and snacks, and it has enough power and ballast to build a wave for the smallest rider and the biggest one. For 2027 it gets a smoother launch, a redesigned bimini, and a spot in the bow just for fenders.

It's a lot of boat. If your lake days are usually four people, we'll tell you that and show you something smaller.

But if your crew keeps growing, come sit in this one. Bring everybody.

"Should I get the NXT or the XT?"

We get this one every week, so here's the straight answer.

The NXT is the easier boat to own. It costs less, it's simple to run, and it still throws a wave your whole crew will love. If this is your first towboat, or you mostly want easy family days, it's probably all the boat you need. For 2027 you can even get a stern thruster on the 22 and up, which takes a lot of stress out of docking.

The XT costs more, and you should know what you're paying for. More ballast (3,500 pounds on the XT22 against 3,000 on the NXT22), more power available, more ways to set up the layout, and a launch system that adjusts itself as you come up to speed. If you surf every weekend with riders of all sizes, you'll feel the difference.

If you ride a handful of times a summer, you probably won't. And we'd rather tell you that now than sell you more boat than you'll use.

You know that week every fall when summer sneaks back for one more round? This is it. The lakes are quiet, the water's still holding some warmth, and nobody's fighting for a spot at the ramp.

So here's your permission slip. Leave work a little early. Grab the kids from school. Go get one more ride in before the covers go on.

You won't remember the emails you skipped. You'll remember who finally got up on the board.

The 2027 MasterCraft X is built around a simple idea. Every detail should make your day easier. It comes up on plane smoother, so you can actually see where you're going. Your fenders have their own spot in the bow. There's a new shade you can add that stays put while you surf.

None of that is the reason you buy it though. The reason is the look on your kid's face when they drop the rope for the first time.

The NXT20 is a great place to start. Easy to drive, easy to own, and it throws a real surf wave without a crazy price tag.
