Turning the basement into a cozy hang-out space for teens started from the ground up. This Hurley Performance rug from isn’t just decor - it’s a mood upgrade. Soft underfoot, varying tones, and proof that the basement deserves style, too. Movie nights, game days, or quiet moments just got a whole lot better.

This Kouva Bench from puts the fun in “functional”…see what I did there 😆? Seating on top, storage below. It handles the mess and elevates the moment - because even the mudroom deserves great style.

Our teenagers have been asking for a place to hang with friends, so after months of neglecting our basement, we’re finally getting the space more settled. This media cabinet balances beauty and function. With hidden storage for remotes, consoles, games, and everything in between, the Leif Media Unit is proof that storage can be stylish.

While renovating this home, I remember thinking how excited I’d be to put our Christmas tree in this corner. I love driving by houses when you can see the Christmas tree in a front window…so warm & cozy!
Macy REALLY wanted to add red velvet bows and twinkling lights this year, so I let her take charge. I also had some green velvet ribbon on hand, so we added that as well. I have a feeling I’ll add some more layers, but I like the way it’s taking shape so far…going the more classic and traditional route🌲✨

As the weather turns cooler and the days grow shorter, we’re looking forward to cozy family dinners. Considering this is our oldest’s senior year and we’re in the thick of college visits and college applications, we’re trying to soak up all the lasts. It’s an exciting time, and we’re confident in God’s perfect plan, but we’ll miss not having him around. Looking forward to making more family memories this holiday season. We are blessed in every way - including health, and never want to take that for granted 🤎

Where do I even begin with the transformation of Macy’s bathroom?! Originally this was a cased opening from her room into the vanity area, then a separate narrow door into the toilet & shower room, and a mirrored bypass door into the closet.

We opted to tear down the wall separating the vanity and toilet/shower room to open it up and instead added double French doors from the bedroom into the bathroom. We swapped out the bypass door for a hinged door. Where there was a medicine cabinet in the wall, we left the opening, but removed the cabinet door and gave it a little arch detail.

Formerly there was carpet in the vanity area, but we tore that out and replaced it with all new tile, vanity, plumbing, and electrical fixtures.

You’ll quickly see in the “after” pics how much we changed up in this space. Turned out the staircase railing didn’t meet code, so demo and rebuild was the answer. We tore out the carpet and replaced with stair treads and painted risers. In the background you’ll also see that we relocated the door into the house from the garage (that’ll be another post 🙃), removed the hallway closet, and redesigned that area to be a little more functional - complete with a wine fridge and a concealed, keypad liquor cabinet.

We decided to also carry the wood flooring into the upstairs hallway as well. Amazing what a difference the wrought iron railing makes…such a fun, unexpected architectural detail.
