What is your companies "Breach plan"? What do you do when you've been hacked? It's not hard to create and it can cut days and $$$ if your forced into recovery. Want to know more??? Call MCC at 402-702-5000.
Virus attacks happen more than you would ever expect. Sometimes theyâre successful and when they are time is your greatest enemy. Midwest Cloud Computing (âMCCâ) has many success stories where we have defended a company against an attacker.
It was a Tuesday, and we were meeting with a new prospective Managed Service Provider customer. This company ABC classic cars (âABCâ) sold classic auto parts and was very large. The company was looking for management of their 150 desktops, their in-house servers and storage, and their network. We also had an opportunity to replace their phone system within the first year. A good opportunity.
It was Friday of that same week when I was called at 3am. that morning. The CIO of ABC was on the phone and was panicked. Weâll call him Bob. He had been notified by an attacker that ransomware had been dropped on his system. He was informed that they would be in touch at a later point. Oddly enough, we did not have anything of an agreement between our two companies, however that was seriously the least of my worries. What did add to the logistical challenge was that they were located in DesMoines IA. Again, âtime is your enemyâ. I put a team together and started the 1-hour trek to the customer HQ.
Weâre onsite and Bob meets us at the door. We get the quick tour of his infrastructure. After a quick triage, I told Bob that he was not to respond to the Bad Actors. I let him know that once he communicated with them, âthe shutdown clock started tickingâ. We had a good 24hours before bad things would start happening. I handed Bob a very simple quote sheet, and we started recovering. To fast forward, we determine how the bad actors delivered the payload. An employee in their Accounting Department was surfing where they shouldnât have gone. We identified the impacted platform and removed the malware.
We left several follow-up tasks with Bob. An important task was to license a product called Knowbe4. This is employee training on what happens when employees unknowingly do dangerous things. We also installed several âfirst alertâ monitoring tools amongst other things. We now have a happy new customer.
To be considered for your organization. Do you a breach plan? What will you do if bad actors shut you out of your system? Is the gist of it, âcall my MSP Providerâ? Does your MSP provider know that youâre first call. Get ahead of the game and walk through what I call âbreach planningâ
Midwest Cloud Computing can help you with this. Weâve done it many times for our MSP customer and just everyday organization. If you find yourself or your company on the wrong side of a breach, give us a call. Weâre fast, weâre experienced, and weâre affordable. You donât have to go it alone.
