Yesterday was all about STEAM! It is always a pleasure partnering with the Mary N. Smith Alumni Association and our amazing local community organizations to provide fun, educational, and hands-on experiences for families.

Throughout the day, participants explored STEAM through a variety of interactive activities, including creating lava lamps, solving the accounting equation, searching for birds, performing mock operations, painting with fish and magnets, building dinosaurs, coding, 3D printing, creating footprints, planning healthy meals, learning about after-school programs, excavating soil, eating bird eyes, and experiencing science inside an environmental dome! To make the day even more special, every participant received two free books from the ACPS Bookmobile.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing the excitement on the faces of both the children and adults as they explored, learned, and tried something new. A special thank you to Carlton West, Marquis Smith, Colby West, and DJ Set-It-Off for helping make sure the event was a success. We truly appreciate everyone who participated, volunteered, exhibited, and supported another successful STEAM Community Day! ❤️

Funny how life comes full circle. My journey started at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), and it has led me to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This week, I had the opportunity to present at the American Accounting Association Global Connect conference. One of the highlights was reconnecting with a former GAO colleague who also served as the Comptroller General of the United States.

You never know where life will take you or who you'll cross paths with again. Grateful for the journey, the people I've met along the way, and the opportunities that God continues to send my way.
