From front-yard hazard to clean slate.
What started as a sudden sinkhole turned out to be an old, abandoned leach pit with a collapsed roof. To eliminate the hazard for good, we dug in, excavated the failing masonry structure, capped off the old abandoned line, and carefully worked around existing active utilities in the trench.
Once the pit was fully removed, we backfilled, compacted, and restored the lawn with fresh topsoil, seed, and straw so it can blend right back into the neighborhood.
Swipe through to see the progression:
• The initial collapse (and why you don’t ignore a dip in the lawn)
• Complete excavation, masonry removal, and capping
• Backfill, compaction, and full turf restoration
