Over the past quarter, the SomaDetect team completed installations across 5 dairies in Ontario, New York State, Maine, and California. We’re proud to welcome 10,000 cows onto the SomaDetect platform.

This is an exciting milestone for our team, our customers, and our partners. It reflects the trust progressive dairy producers are placing in SomaDetect as we continue bringing better milk data, better herd insights, and stronger decision-support to farms across North America.

A huge thank you to dairy partners, who welcomed us on farm, and to everyone helping build this momentum.

We’re excited to welcome Leo Amancio to the SomaDetect team, where he will be leading sales.

Leo brings 15+ years of experience across dairy and agtech. Raised in a dairy farm environment and shaped by early hands-on field experience, he brings a practical understanding of the challenges dairy farmers face and a strong focus on turning technical solutions into real on-farm results.

Over the years, Leo has built and scaled teams and go-to-market approaches that help translate innovation into better milk quality and stronger day-to-day operations.

Leo will be at the Canadian Dairy XPO this week, April 1–2, 2026, and is looking forward to meeting farmers and industry partners there.

New Research Shows: SCC Spikes Happen Far More Often Than Monthly Testing Reveals

A recent study presented at the 2025 AABP Annual Meeting found that monthly DHI SCC testing often fails to capture significant changes in udder health. 15% of cows showed SCC category increases that would not have been detected with monthly testing, and intra-monthly SCC variation was more than five times higher than week-to-week variation (p = 1.7545E-200).

This means infections can develop and resolve between monthly tests, making traditional “rules of thumb” unreliable and limiting a farm’s ability to meaningfully reduce bulk tank SCC.

SomaDetect’s SomaSENTINEL system provides SCC-related insight at every milking, helping farmers track true trends, identify subclinical mastitis earlier, and make more confident herd management decisions based on continuous data rather than delayed snapshots.
