For too long, the beauty industry has viewed Black hair as a market opportunity rather than a community to serve. We see it in the generic formulas on big-box shelves and the lack of transparency in ingredient lists.

Making the switch to Black and women-owned, community-rooted beauty brands is more than a personal preference.

It's a strategic act of economic self-determination.

At L. Norwood and Associates we believe that we heal as individuals, we are better equipped to advocate for the systemic changes our communities deserve.

Our latest resource guide explores how to audit your routine and prioritize your economic power.

We scrutinize what we eat but rarely what we put on our skin...even though it's our body's largest organ.

This quarter, LNA is focusing on small shifts that have big impact: natural, community-rooted products mean real ingredient transparency, dollars that stay circulating close to home, and fewer mystery additives.

It's not about perfection, it's about informed choices. Scan the QR code to get the full guide. 👇

Your grocery bag is more powerful than you think. đź›’

Every grocery purchase is a vote for the kind of economy you want to support. When we choose local farms, Black and women-owned markets, co-ops, and CSA programs, we help build community wealth, strengthen food sovereignty, and keep dollars circulating closer to home.

By choosing where we spend, we are actively participating in the work of repair and community investment from the inside out.

Last week, our team stepped away from deadlines and deliverables for something we don’t always make time for: connecting with each other.

We opened our retreat with a simple exercise. Each person chose one question to answer in front of the group: no titles, no agendas, just honesty. Questions like “What hardship shaped who you are today?” and “What are you finally giving yourself permission to do?”

What came out of those few minutes was bigger than we expected. Stories of resilience. Reminders of why we do this work in the first place. A room full of people committed to movement-building, racial justice, and community-centered change, choosing to turn that same care inward.

Because the truth is: you can’t pour into communities that have been under-resourced and overlooked if you don’t first pour into the people doing that work.

We also spent time aligning on the brand standards, processes, and communication practices that help us show up with consistency and professionalism for every client and every community we serve.

We left more connected, more aligned, and more grounded in why L. Norwood & Associates exists.

Here’s to doing the work, together. 🧡🩶🩷

We’re proud to share that our sister organization, Game Changers Leadership Institute, is midway through an incredible spring cycle and continues to grow its impact!

More than 40 young leaders, ages 16–24, from across the Inland Empire are building skills in grassroots organizing, storytelling and narrative power, and digital advocacy.

These emerging change-makers are gaining the tools, confidence, and experience to create real impact in their communities while exploring career pathways in the social justice sector.

Are you interested in supporting this work and helping build a pipeline of youth organizers in California and beyond?

We’re proud to share that our CEO joined fellow philanthropic leaders at the 2026 Harambee Conference hosted by ABFE in San Francisco.

As the largest gathering of Black professionals in philanthropy, Harambee brings together changemakers committed to advancing equity, strengthening communities, and building a more just future.

The conversations, collaborations, and collective impact from being in community with other purpose-driven CEOs and leaders is empowering.

This June, we’re proud to celebrate African-American Music Appreciation Month. From Jazz and Blues to Hip-Hop and R&B, Black artists have shaped the very fabric of American culture and continue to influence music globally.

This month, join us in honoring the pioneers, innovators, and creators whose voices have soundtracked history and fueled social change. Let’s celebrate the rhythm, the soul, and the legacy that inspires us every day.

L. Norwood & Associates is proud to lead communications and strategy for Alliance for Reparations, Reconciliation, and Truth- ARRT in support of AB 2599, the Truth in Disclosure Act.

This legislation would require companies doing business in California to disclose historical ties to slavery and profits connected to enslaved labor. We recently joined advocates in Sacramento for Advocacy Day, where the bill successfully passed the Judiciary hearing with majority support.

We remain committed to advancing equity-focused policy advocacy rooted in truth, healing, and repair.

L. Norwood & Associates was a proud sponsor of the 5th annual “A Queen’s Meeting,” a powerful gathering that celebrates and empowers Black women.

This year’s event brought together more than 100 influential Black women, including Secretary of State Shirley Weber. Our CEO, La'Nae Norwood, helped found this initiative to create more opportunities for connection, collaboration, and leadership.

In her capacity as a board member of the Joseph A Bailey II, MD Foundation, La'Nae authorized a grant to Emerging Beauty's Obaheema Project. This investment directly contributes to the social-emotional health and well-being of high school girls in the Inland Empire.
