Here is what color testing at High Country looks like. We are trying out a new supplier who looks very promising. The different shades of brown are us doing some minor changes in mix ratio of pigment to native compound. We have one of our own projects that is going to be produced using the lighter of the brown test slabs shown.

Here is a new customer for us at High Country, this particular shoe is being made for a product launch for YOUDO shoes based out of Calgary Canada. Our pictures only show part of the exciting design provided by this company. Pictured are the racks with an accumulation of shoes just prior to inspection and packaging for shipment. Be sure to check out YOUDO when they go online. Truly a great concept in footwear! Their new design allows a totally new approach to customization.

These photo's highlight the PVC footwear business. This side parallels our efforts in EVA but uses a different compound and process to provide a good looking very durable product. This is not part of the High Country business yet, but you never know!! We are watching one of our good friends Eileen Kenney of Hoofitz Boots with their start up on a very cleverly designed PVC boot. We do hope at some point to be working with Hoofitz on one of their projects. Learning a great deal about molds and possibilities for customizing an EVA product. In this case, the pictured mold allows you to change a plate to produce a different logo or figure, perhaps a tag line. Small holes in right image are to push the plate out. It needs to be tight so that EVA compound leakage does not take away from sole quality. This mold also represents just a small amount of the great work coming out of Duwei in Taichung, Taiwan. One of my first stops was to see King Steel EVA injection machine manufacturer in Taichung, King Steel has been our vendor of choice from the start and is always ready to assist us in anyway they can. Our KS 908UE2 really provides great flexibility to produce a number of different items. Pictured below is yes, a Bicycle tire, Boogie board, tall water proof style boots and some childs toys. EVA takes graphics very well as many different colors. We are now working on some new footwear designs for customers who want the benefits that EVA injection provides. Our dry erase board shows one of the High Country Plastics projects in progress. This effort is being worked on while Al Fisher is in Taiwan working with our molding partner Duwei of Taichung. Pictured here is CAD department staff along wiht engineering discussing a brand new product. This project started out as an idea of our founder Tony Stevenson and is now onto one of the early stages, that is a 2D drawing of the item.

With EVA molding being relatively new here in the US many of our potential customers are not aware that our manufacturing capacity is dependent on what we are making and other limitations. In the case of footwear as is pictured on many of my posts, we have the capacity to produce upwards of 140 pairs per hour ! Given our current schedule of 10 hour shifts that equates to 1400 pairs per day. We have yet to see a customer who can keep up with what we produce! Give us a call to see if we can produce for you!

Here is a color sampling of some of our major colors we produced during our startup in footwear. Customers can bring us their pantone numbers or simply send us a sample of what they want to build and we can match or if needed have custom color done. Usually larger volumes are needed for this approach. High Country buys pigments to mix with our native as the situation warrants.
