Another new system.
Another new process.
Another announcement.

Eventually, people stop reacting not from resistance, but fatigue.

When change comes faster than people can absorb, even good initiatives fail.

The real question: Can the organization handle more change right now?

Sometimes the answer isn’t to push harder it’s to pause and assess capacity.

How does your organization know when people have reached their limit?

A project dashboard can tell you that milestones are being met.

It may not tell you what people are thinking.

A project can remain “green” while:

1.Stakeholders become less engaged.
2.Questions stop being raised.
3.Teams begin creating workarounds.
4.Decisions take longer.
5.People quietly lose confidence in the change.

These signals matter.

Change Analysis helps organizations look beyond the project plan and understand how a change is affecting people, processes and the wider organization.

Sometimes the biggest risk isn't the issue everyone is talking about.
It is the issue nobody is talking about anymore.

What signals would make you question a “green” project?

A stakeholder says: We need a new system.
Sounds clear but it isn’t.

A good Business Analyst asks:

What’s broken in the current system?

What problem are we solving?

What outcome do we want?

Why do we think new tech is the answer?

Because often the issue isn’t technology. It’s a broken process, unclear ownership, poor data, duplicate work, or decision-making gaps.

Jumping to solutions too early risks months of effort without fixing the real need.

Business Analysis isn’t order-taking it’s problem-understanding.

When someone says they need a new system, what’s your first question?

On time.
On budget.
System launched.
Project closed.

Success?

I'd still ask:

1. Are people using it?

2. Did the process improve?

3. Were the expected benefits realised?

4. Did we actually solve the original problem?

Delivery closes the project. Value tells us whether it was worth doing.

A business can spend more on advertising, generate more enquiries and still struggle to grow.

Why?

Because growth doesn't stop when someone becomes a lead.

What happens next matter.

Who responds?
How quickly?
Who owns the enquiry?
What happens if they don't reply?
Can anyone see where that customer is in the journey?

More traffic won't fix a process that loses people after they arrive.

Sometimes the next stage of growth isn't getting more attention.

It's doing more with the attention you already have.

What happens in your business after a new enquiry comes in?

Some of the most useful questions I've asked are surprisingly simple:

1.Why do we do it this way?
2.What problem are we solving?
3.What happens if we do nothing?

Experience has taught me that the job isn't to sound like the smartest person in the room.

It's to help the room make a better decision.

What's one simple question that's served you well?

The email was sent.
The town hall happened.
Training was completed.

But can people actually work differently on day one?

Communication tells people change is coming. Readiness tells us whether they're prepared for it.

There's a big difference.

How do you know when a team is genuinely ready for change?

A Change Impact Assessment shouldn't be a spreadsheet completed and forgotten.

It should help answer:

What will people do differently?
Who will be most affected?
What support will they need?
Where are the risks?

The document isn't the outcome.

Preparing people for what's coming is.

What gets missed most often when assessing change impact?

We need a new system.

We need another report.

We need to automate this.

Those may be valid requirements. But before writing them down, I want to understand why they're needed in the first place.

Because delivering exactly what was requested means very little if the original problem is still there.

Good Business Analysis starts before the requirement.

What's the first question you ask before accepting a requirement?

Most people assume businesses grow because they spend more on advertising.

Sometimes that's true.

More often...

The businesses growing consistently have something else.

Clear systems.

Their website answers questions.

Their enquiries are followed up.

Their customers know what happens next.

Their team isn't relying on memory.

Growth rarely happens by accident.

It happens when every part of the business works together.

That's one lesson I've seen over and over again.

What's one system in your business you know could work better?
