Having been in the game for over 10 years now.. one of my favorite aspects of training people in the executive protection industry is seeing their eyes open to the reality of what it means to be a true specialist.
We start stripping away the layers of what they thought they knew, and then empower them with a much deeper level of understanding.
The truth is, the agents who excel in the private security game are NOT always the ones you would expect...
Being the strongest, fastest, biggest and baddest does not necessarily make you successful.
Let’s face it…
These days, "security personnel" are a dime a dozen. To TRULY stand out as an industry recognized specialist requires mastery of both in-field tactics and client interfacing skills.
Amateurs think it’s all about bullets and gun slinging…
But that's only the surface level stuff, those who are truly making the money and booking high value clients have a second layer of skill sets that are rarely discussed.
There are actually a number of critical soft skills required that a majority of agents lack. And it's these specific skill sets that dictate who is able to create a long standing and profitable career in this industry.
I’m talking about all the things that you’ll never get by just signing up for some 3 day workshop or tactical course.
Those all have their place, but what no one ever talks about is how to operate as a true specialist so you can create a profitable career and not just scramble around hoping to find a job that lasts longer than a week.
After years of paying my dues the hard way, I’ve been able to evolve and adapt these unspoken principles to develop a global, multi-brand presence within the industry.
Do I wish I could have had someone just fast track and teach me these skills instead of having to fight for every inch of success on my own?
