You don't need a diagnosis. You don't need a plan already figured out. You just need a question β€” even one as simple as "where do we even start?"

We offer a free in-home safety and care assessment for families across Connecticut. No pressure, no sales pitch β€” just an honest conversation with someone who's done this since 2003, about what your mom or dad actually needs right now.

She used to ask if I got home safe.

Now I'm the one asking her.

Somewhere along the way β€” quietly, without either of us really noticing β€” the roles switched.

I used to think being a good son meant handling everything myself. Now I know that's not sustainable, and it's not actually what she wants either. She doesn't want a stressed-out son who shows up exhausted. She wants her son.

Being present doesn't mean being everything. The right support protects what matters.

If this sounds like your story too, we're here whenever you're ready to talk.

One of the most common questions we get β€” and one of the most avoided.

Hourly care starts at $32/hour with a 2-hour minimum β€” great for part-time help, errands, meal prep, or companionship a few days a week.

Live-in care starts at $365/day β€” full-time, round-the-clock support from one consistent, familiar caregiver.

Exact rates vary by location and level of care needed, but we'd rather give you real numbers than let you guess. Ask us β€” we'll walk you through it honestly.

We shared 3 signs a few weeks ago β€” here are 3 more, focused on something families often miss: fall risk.

New bruises that get brushed off. Furniture that's mysteriously ended up closer together, like it's being used to steady a walk across the room. A pillbox that's still full days after it should be empty.

Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults living at home β€” and they're rarely a single dramatic moment. They're usually preceded by small changes like these.

Most families assume Medicare will step in when a parent needs daily help at home. It doesn't.

Medicare covers short-term skilled nursing after a hospital stay β€” up to 100 days, under specific conditions. It does not cover ongoing custodial care: help bathing, dressing, preparing meals, or simply having someone there.

That gap catches a lot of families off guard, usually right when they can least afford the surprise.

πŸ’¬ If you're not sure what your parent's coverage actually includes, we're happy to help you sort through it β€” no pressure.

We get asked this almost every week: "Is this normal aging, or is it dementia?"

Here's the honest, simple difference:

Normal aging: forgetting a name, then remembering it later. Misplacing keys once in a while.

Worth watching: forgetting how to get home from a place they've driven to for 20 years. Asking the same question five times in ten minutes. Getting lost somewhere familiar.

One is frustrating. The other is a safety issue.

You don't need a diagnosis to start paying attention β€” you just need to stop explaining it away.

πŸ‘‡ Noticed something similar with your parent? Tell us in the comments β€” or send us a message, no pressure, just answers.

"I used to think hiring help meant I was giving up on my mom.

I was wrong.

I just didn't know it yet.

I was showing up exhausted, short-tempered, running on nothing left. She could feel it. I could feel it. We were both losing something.

The day someone else helped her get up, get dressed, make breakfast β€” I got to just be her daughter again. Not her nurse. Not her scheduler. Her daughter.

Asking for help isn't the thing that failed her.

Doing it all alone almost was."

If this sounds like where you are right now β€” we're here when you're ready. No pressure, just support.

Here's what most families don't find out until it's too late:

If you hire a caregiver privately β€” off a Facebook group, a flyer, a friend of a friend β€” and something goes wrong, there's often no insurance, no bonding, and no background check standing behind you. If she gets hurt in your parent's home, that liability can land on you.

A licensed home care agency isn't just a caregiver. It's insurance, bonding, a vetted background check, and someone accountable if anything goes wrong.

The lower hourly rate isn't cheaper. It's just a risk you haven't priced yet.

We're fully insured, bonded, and every caregiver is background-checked and reference-verified before they ever step into your parent's home.

πŸ’¬ Questions about what's actually covered? Ask us β€” we'll give you a straight answer.

It usually doesn't happen all at once.

It's the mail that's piling up. The meals that used to be home-cooked, now skipped. The story you've heard three times this week.

None of these mean an emergency. But together, they're a pattern β€” and patterns are worth paying attention to.
If you've noticed more than one of these lately, you're not overreacting. You're paying attention.

We help families figure out what "a little help" actually looks like β€” no pressure, no commitment, just an honest conversation.

πŸ“ž Call us or send a message β€” we're happy to just talk it through.
