I spoke at a national conference last week about generational differences, especially with Gen Z, impacting organizations' ability to recruit and retain their workforce. Afterwards, people came to speak, ask questions, and give me their business cards. One lady came up to me and said she did not have a card, but she had written her name on the back of a Nevada state flag sticker, which was where she was from. She said, “I wondered what I was going to do with this sticker, but once they introduced you, I knew it was for you!" Y'all. Who knew?

I always leave a handwritten “Thank you!” on hotel stationery with a daily tip for the housekeeper, so they know the money is intended for them. One housekeeper, about three years ago, was the first one who wrote me back! I was delighted, started looking forward to her message each day (even got happy face stickers on one note), and saved each one. If you ever doubt the power of kindness and a handwritten note, just try it! Her notes are now bookmarks in my Bible, so that I can focus on the power of small gestures; the difference it can make in a day and a life; and to remember her in my prayers. (The irony of casino note paper lodged in my Bible also registered. 😉😏😜)

HR Managers need to be aware that even though the CDC has relaxed mask guidelines, OSHA has not. It might be best to take a "wait and see" approach in the meantime.
