At Mara Restoration, workplace safety isn't just a priority—it's our commitment to every team member on our construction sites. From January 20th to January 23rd, we dedicated ourselves to enhancing our safety protocols through comprehensive training.

**Training Highlights:**
Our team participated in the OSHA 30-Hour Construction course, expertly led by Justin Williams from the Core Safety Group. Across four engaging days, our 25 dedicated participants—including our superintendent, foremen, journeymen, and apprentices—immersed themselves in 30 hours of critical training.

This program empowered us to:
- Recognize and understand health and safety hazards common on construction sites.
- Develop strategies to avoid and prevent workplace incidents.
- Master situational management for safer work environments.

A huge thank you goes out to the local businesses that supported us during this essential training:
**Dunkin Donuts** in Fort Washington kept our mornings energized and fueled with their delicious coffee and treats. Thanks for always being ready for us!
**Costa Deli** in Ambler filled our lunch breaks with mouthwatering hot roast pork and meatball sandwiches—definitely a highlight of our training!
**Luciani’s Pizza** in Fort Washington treated us to their amazing pizza and wings, perfect for keeping spirits high during our sessions. Special shoutout to Mike and his sons, Rocco and Alex!
**Giuliano’s Deli** in Glenside provided fantastic hoagie trays and side salads that kept us all well-fed and ready to learn. Thank you, Marcella, Nicole, Jeff, Krissa, and Gabrielle!
**First Contact HR**, led by Sean, Mike, and Bob, for seamlessly coordinating a mobile fingerprinting event on Day 3 of our training.

Thank you to everyone involved in making our Annual Workplace Safety Week a success! Together, we are committed to creating a safer and healthier work environment.

Thank you for dedication to the workforce! Happy Labor Day from Mara Restoration.

To celebrate Women's History Month, Mara Restoration would like to recognize Rebecca (Becky) Zingler, a union Journeywoman who has worked with us on various projects. When asked about her experience being a woman in the industry, Becky says, "Over the course of my apprenticeship from 2017-2021, I was prepared to have to work harder to prove myself. I'm grateful to have worked with a lot of great people at different jobs and companies that welcomed me along the way. I'm excited to pass that experience on as a journeywoman, especially to my BAC sisters starting out."

Thank you Becky for your craftsmanship and dedication to the industry!

Home of the free, because of the brave. On Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Mara Restoration is honored to have worked on the preservation of the historic Pennsylvania State Monument in Gettysburg National Military Park. The Pennsylvania State Monument honors the 34,530 Pennsylvanians who fought at Gettysburg; 1,182 were killed, 3,177 wounded and 860 recorded as missing. This Memorial Day weekend, take a moment to remember and honor those for their service, commitment and courage.

Mara Restoration is currently performing work at the historic Girard College in Philadelphia. Established in 1848, Girard College is a 5-day boarding school for academically capable students with demonstrated financial need, grades 1-12, from single parent or single guardian households. Girard College provides full scholarships to all accepted students so that the students may take part in the strong academic program and live safely on the 43-acre campus. The scope of work at Girard College includes cleaning and repairing the historic marble entablature and portico marble pavers on the building. The entablature is being cleaned using the Rotec Vortex Cleaning System, by Quintek, which our team previously received training on. This system cleans and restores surfaces safely, is environmentally safe, and is an effective alternative to the more conventional and often damaging sandblasting or water methods. The pavers on the structure require cleaning by hand using a special chemical free method, and are being removed and reinstalled using a vacuum hoist system. We are honored to work on this historic property which is listed as a National Historic District on both the Philadelphia Register and National Register of Historic Places.

Mara Restoration, working with The Goldenberg Group, has completed the restoration of the gazebo at Mattison Estates, topping it off with the placement of the eagle that sits on top. The eagle (ca. 1896), a zinc casting, repaired and restored by Kreilick Conservation in Oreland Pa, was damaged when it blew from the roof of the gazebo, shattering it into several pieces. Reconstruction of the eagle included building an internal armature, restoring the eagle, and painting the zinc with a primer and surface coating in “off-white” color matching the paint samples harvested from the original surface. The eagle is now back at its original home on top of the gazebo, located within the Mattison Estates in Ambler, Pennsylvania. The historic elements of the property are protected by a conservation easement administered by The Preservation Alliance. The gazebo’s masonry was repaired by Mara, along with the replacement and painting of wood shingles completed by Fairmount Park Conservancy. This was a true cooperation amongst the team to preserve such an awesome treasure.

Mara Restoration is currently working on the preservation of the historic Pennsylvania State Monument in Gettysburg National Military Park. The Pennsylvania State Monument honors the 34,530 Pennsylvanians who fought at Gettysburg: 1,182 were killed, 3,177 wounded and 860 recorded as missing. Completed in 1914 along Cemetery Ridge, the Union battle line on July 2, 1863, it stands at 110 feet making it the tallest monument on the battlefield. Mara Restoration will be removing and resetting granite from the historic structure, removing and reinstalling granolithic paving and re-pointing the granite stones on the monument. We look forward to showing you the results of this significant piece of history.
