Just take one step today. Make one different choice. Don’t worry about next week, next month, next year, just today.

What’s the next best decision for where you WANT to be? Think about it from a place of excitement, not a place of fear. Think about it from the perspective of your best self or your ā€œhero.ā€

There are so many subtle, little things we do on a daily basis that hold us back from having a more enjoyable life and happier, healthier relationships…

Setting boundaries and communicating expectations are two huge areas I see gaps in for 99% of the people I work with.

We’re so scared to ask for what we need or to say ā€œnoā€ - but at what cost? By holding on to what we have, we’re preventing *better* things from coming into our lives.

The truth is, no one else is holding you back except you. šŸ‘€ (yeah, I said it)

You have to be willing to stand up for yourself. No one else can do it for you. Others can support you, but they can’t make the changes for you, and the chances are, they don’t know what you really want or need because you haven’t even admitted it to YOURSELF! 😬

Ask yourself: ā€œIf love and success were guaranteed, what would I ask for? If I already had everything I wanted, what decisions would be different?ā€

18+ months and counting! šŸ„°ā™„ļøšŸ„³ I can honestly say we’ve never been stronger, more aligned, or happier than we are now. I’m so grateful for this journey - for our learning and growth!

While we’ve had a ton of fun and adventures, we’ve also had ups and downs over that time… there were times where I was constantly questioning (honestly I was letting my fear take over), we weren’t in sync or aligned, and we both felt frustrated.

🧐 Did you know that months 3-6 is typically where differences & challenges will surface in the relationship and when you can determine if your core values are truly aligned or there are deal-breakers?

It’s a natural period every relationship goes through - and it’s needed. We must be able to question and examine ourselves to ensure we’re in alignment with what’s right for us. It’s when we ignore the signs that come up that we get into trouble.

šŸ™ Luckily, we listened to them and were able to have open conversations which allowed us to calibrate.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned and implemented is that it’s us vs. the problem. Not me vs. Andy. It’s not about being ā€œrightā€ - it’s about coming together.

Having this perspective shift and improving our communication was ESSENTIAL to getting us to where we are now.šŸ™ŒšŸ’—

We’ve all been burned in relationships and most of us don’t have great ā€œmodelsā€ of healthy relationships. Therefore communication in dating and relationships is under-valued in our society, and it’s something I think we can ALL work on and improve.

When we stop viewing the other person as the problem and start taking greater personal responsibility, our relationships will MASSIVELY improve. I’m sharing this from my own personal experience in relationships and having worked with hundreds of people in relationships.

There’s a lot to unpack in this statement - whether you’re going through a break-up or in a relationship now (happy or not), it can be extremely beneficial to consider a few things…

My coach said these words to me as I was going through a break-up in my mid-20s. I had hung on and tried to make the relationship work for YEARS and we were making each other miserable. I was trying to ā€œfixā€ everything instead of accepting who each of us were.

When she said these words to me, I was 🤯 and knew she was right! While I continued to grieve, it definitely gave me a new perspective.

I didn’t fully embody this lesson for many more years, bless my heart šŸ˜‚šŸ™. But there were relationships and lessons I needed so that I could understand 2 crucial things:

1ļøāƒ£ The best and most healthy relationship is when you honor the other person and you truly want them to be happy, you want them to be their highest & best self, you deeply want what’s best for THEM & their path. (Which may or may not include you.)

2ļøāƒ£ The same goes for you… is this relationship in service of YOUR best self? Are you clinging on for the comfort of having someone? Are you shrinking yourself or not pursuing your desires?

When we hold these 2 beliefs, we gain perspective and can act more unselfishly… not forcing things or holding on to someone when it’s just not right.

If you’re in a relationship right now, remembering these 2 things can help you maintain a healthy, supportive, not co-dependent relationship.

In my current relationship, I use this all the time! For example, I can appreciate that Andy has different opinions and perspectives on things rather than try to force him into my beliefs.

And I can show up as my true self, not what I *think* he wants.

🌟 When you show up as your true self and follow your path is when you will be at your best and the right relationship will FLOW. (Not that challenges won’t arise, but they’ll be far easier to navigate.)

Here’s your pre-weekend reminder to get out there and do something new with your significant other and/or people you love!

(🌱 also to the time we went hiking in the beautiful Redwoods National Park!)

Having new experiences is crucial for your growth and building a stronger connection in relationships. You get to learn new things together AND about each other. Like what the other person finds interesting, gross, or enjoyable!

You can also learn how you both handle new and unknown experiences - as individuals and as a couple / unit. (Could be romantic or platonic - friends, family, coworkers, etc.)

Over time, you create a memory bank together - whether it’s positive or negative is really up to you both and how you interact with each other in these times.

Last, I will mention that you can’t *only* be spontaneous and have new experiences together and expect to grow and have a fulfilling relationship. The every day moments are just as meaningful and important! (And in my experience, often get overlooked in romantic relationships.)

All the relationships you will ever have start with self-love.

They start with self-respect.
They start with positive self-talk.
They start with a healthy mindset.
They start with mindfulness and awareness.
They start with YOU.

✨ Your relationship with yourself is the gateway to everything you want in life. ✨

Are you your own best friend or your own worst enemy?
No shame for where you are, I was my own worst enemy for a long time.
Then I started choosing myself…

Choosing my growth.
Choosing my healing.
Choosing to own my s**t and negative patterns.
Choosing to give myself grace.

And I gotta say…
It feels fu***ng awesome! šŸ„°šŸ’—šŸ„³

I hope you choose you.
Because once you do, everything else will start to fall into place.

Mental Health *IS* HEALTH. The truth is that we ALL struggle. (Just a quick fyi in case there is any confusion, Mental Health refers to our mental and psychological well-being, not having a specific disorder.) Literally every single human being on the planet has dealt with something challenging in their life. Unless we are taught how to process difficult events and our emotions, we will continue to struggle or repress our issues until they come bursting out of us.

🧠 Mental Health is something all of us have to take care of, just like physical health.
🧠 Mental Health requires daily care and maintenance.
🧠 Mental Health doesn’t discriminate, it affects us all regardless of age, gender, race, religion, income, country of origin, etc.

If you want to be your BEST self - for yourself, your partner, your kids, your family, your friends, etc. - take care of your full self, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
