Today’s Mullett come with a story. We left the dock last night after Capt Zach finished up with a successful charter trip for old drum. He came home and switched boats, off we went about 9 pm. We rode the river shore for a very long way only seeing small or scattered mullett. The night was starting to look like a bust. 2 am and still no fish. We were going down the shore looking and didnt find fish but did find 4 sport fisherman high and dry. They had miss calculated and drove their 22 footer right up on shore. Not one inch was touching water. We were losing time but we stopped to see if we could help. I didn’t have much confidence we would be able to get her off the marsh. Zach’s first question to them was is anyone hurt? Are you all ok? Then he took control of the situation. He checked the weight of the boat by putting his back under the bow and lifting with his legs. It moved. Some quick knots bridals and positioning. They lifted we pulled and half hour later she was floating with 4 very grateful fishermen. We said goodbye and went back to looking for Mullett. Zachary was starting to worry about fuel left and we would have to start home. Less than 20 minutes later we saw the fish. Zach struck and we had them in the net. Clears them in 2 hours and on the way home. Hit the dock with less than a gallon of fuel left. 800 pounds of fresh mullet to make many many people happy. Life lesson learned? Sometimes karma , love, and life take a while to come back to you. Sometimes it happens in under 20 minutes. All this on Zachary’s birthday. He has learned how to give gifts on his birthday. It’s a very special and enlightened person who can accomplish this. Happy birthday Captain Zach Bruno. It’s a gift being your Dad!
