Hello! I hope everyone is having an amazing summer.
I wanted to take a minute to answer a few questions we get on a regular basis, as well as share our updated price list. Unfortunately, due to the rising cost of chemicals and utilities over the past few years, we've had no choice but to slightly increase our prices.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: You can book an appointment using the following link: https://www.skulls-by-totally-boned.com/
Just click the black "Book Now" button in the middle of the page. We are closed every Sunday and Monday. For the rest of the week, I alternate between morning/afternoon availability and evening hours. If you can't find a time that works for you, please feel free to contact us!
Q: What should I do with my deer once it is harvested?
A: It should be bagged and frozen right after harvest. Please do not leave your skull lying around; any infestation of outside insects can harm our dermestid beetle colonies. If any sourness, decomposition, infestation, or excessive dryness is found when we prep your skull for cleaning, an additional fee will apply (see price list below). Any species harvested over 1 year ago will also incur this fee, as skulls left in the freezer for extended periods dry out.
Q: If I skin and prep the deer head myself, do I get a discount?
A: No. Please refrain from skinning the head. Ensure the ears are removed and the neck is trimmed completely up to the last vertebra (no neck vertebrae should remain attached). A $10 disposal fee may be charged if these steps are not followed and we have to dispose of the neck material. Please do not try to clean the head yourself—we have a specific process, and when customers try to "save us the work," it generally creates more work for us.
Q: How much does a European Mount cost?
A: Please see the price list below.
Q: What do I need to bring with me when dropping off my deer?
A: Please do not bring your official carcass tag; per NYS guidelines, that must remain with your meat. Instead, create a separate tag to attach to the head with your name, address, hunting license number, signature, date of harvest, and point count (if applicable). We require a 50% deposit at drop-off. We accept cash, check, Venmo, and credit cards (credit card payments incur a 3.5% processing fee).
Q: How long will my Euro Mount take to complete?
A: As of September 20, 2026, our current turnaround time is 6 months. We continually have a high volume of projects in the shop, which creates a backlog. Additionally, each White-tailed deer Euro Mount takes up to a month or longer to be 100% finished. As the season progresses, this timeline will push out further as more heads arrive. Your estimated completion date will always be listed on your invoice, so please check there for updates!
Q: Where are you located?
A: 5942 Barker Road, Oriskany Falls, NY 13425. When you arrive, please enter the garage and head into the secondary room at the back. Please ensure you have scheduled an appointment prior to arriving!
