We recently had a situation where some parents were naturally concerned about an individual who was presumed to be taking photos of children.

This is an informational post. It takes a village, and we should always be vigilant, when it comes to taking care of our children. However, posting a photo of someone and insinuating or accusing them of being a predator is not okay. Taking photos of children in public is NOT against the law.

Our laws allow for anyone in a public space to take photographs, as long as the action of taking photographs in that public space is not prohibited.

While the law allows individuals the freedom to photograph children in public, the individual will need to stop immediately when confronted with any objection. At which point the right to privacy might be enforced, if at any point, one may feel that it is being infringed upon.

Consent to use the image, is expressly required, when the photograph will be used for commercial gain

The sharing and communicating of concerns will always be welcome. However, posting of photographs of individuals, with insinuations or accusations of nefarious, predatory actions, will be deleted.

It does take a village and let us be diligent without tagging friends and neighbors as likely predators.

Notification!

There have been numerous posts or comments where a member has been recommended or referred to as "Don the Plumber."

This is a violation of a number of state statutes regarding professional and business licensing. Any posts or comments referring to this individual as a plumber, or Don the Plumber" will be removed.

There is a licensed plumber in Clearwater, who holds a state license and a business license under "Don the Plumber."

Please understand, this is not an action on the individual. It is strictly a position on Florida law.

Please verify that anyone working on your home or property is licensed and insured. A business license is not a professional license as outlined by the state of Florida Department of Professional Regulation.

This is a reminder for new members and for long-term members who may have forgotten...

Conway Community organization has had a long standing policy of prohibiting financial donation campaigns. It's not an unusual position. A large number of community groups prohibit private solicitation of money.

This is a reminder fundraising campaigns must be tied to a 501c3 organization, church or school located or impacting the Conway area. Any other posts soliciting financial funds it's tied to a GoFundMe, venmo, cash app or any other financial process will be deleted.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation.

Money and financial hardship
Personal struggle, like alcoholism or mental health

These, along with many other reasons, are why Facebook implemented the feature. It is invaluable for those who want to reach out for help while protecting their privacy and the privacy of their families.
