Imagine with me for just a moment. Take a look at your current living environment. Your house, apartment, trailer, condo, or wherever you live. Think about your daily routine, the things you do on a regular basis such as preparing meals, lounging around, house work, laundry, receiving packages or getting your own mail or even walking through your front door. Now think what you would do if these daily routines were interrupted and you were forced to pack all your belongings up and relocate to a single hotel room equipped with a two drawer dresser, desk, full-size bed, mini fridge, and microwave. Taking away your ability to clean your own room the way you like it, sleep in your own comfortable bed, having everything placed just the way you want it, not having the ability to have mail delivered to you and having to get a PO Box on the other side of town and even preparing your own meals. You would pay your mortgage or rent on a monthly basis but now since you’re in a hotel you’re paying on a nightly or weekly basis. The cost of the room that you’re now living in takes up 80% of your monthly income and The room rate could change at a moments notice. Imagine having to go to the office located on the other side of the property in building one with you being in building six. every single day and every single week to pay your bill. Having to go to a laundry facility just to do your laundry instead of going into another room in your own house. having your own key to get into your door at your own house is a blessing, but now you’re left with a swipe card that may or may not work and can be deactivated at the push of a button. Resulting in yet another trip to the office that may or may not be open. What would you do? How would you survive? now let’s add a twist to this whole scenario that you already are cringing at just the thought of. You’re blind! You have no eyesight, now how do you deal with this? How do you manage to do things on a daily basis? Your routine has now been completely utterly disrupted! Now in your own personal room you place some thing and housekeeping comes in just to move it to the other side so they can clean. With no eyesight your left frantic possibly looking for much-needed medication‘s or something that is essential for your daily living. Getting over to the office to pay your bill let’s hope you have some help because most of you with eyesight would never figure out the way to get there and much let’s get back. And that swipe card suddenly deactivates and yet again another trip to find the office. Laundry, not having it in your own home you’re now left with being dependent on trying to figure out the laundry facility on your own. Much less, if you’re lucky you have some help but you’re dependent on their own timing when they can help you if not your on your own and still needing clothes for work and possibly having to where things with stains and smells because they were not able to assist you this week. As for meals, you have a mini fridge and a microwave. Storage is almost non-existent so majority of your meals have to be delivered to you through Uber eats which in itself you have to spend $15 or more just to get a hamburger delivered to you. Now thinking back to that hotel room that’s costing you 80% of your income while not on disability you’re now on disability you’re lucky if you’re even making $1000 a month. for you that hotel room is exceeding your income you’re buying meals out because you can’t store groceries, you’re paying unnecessary cost for transportation just so you can get your mail, you’re paying a friend to come help you just to go get your laundry done, and who knows whatever else might come up cost wise. now with this new scenario I hope that it puts a different perspective in your mind. Thank now of these questions, how do you survive? How do you make it? As for Josh, He asked himself that question every day for the past six months. The only answer he has is God has guided him this whole time. He would love nothing more than to have his own place again. unfortunately, the housing situation is in crisis mode in Orlando and across this entire country! People in his income bracket are just not able to find anything to rent, but not without a lack of trying. The only option left for someone in his circumstance is to purchase a home at extremely high interest rate. That is if you’re lucky to have good credit. but it would be a lot cheaper than even considering to rent in this demanding market. So, he is left with two options one, continue to walk by faith in the hotel and pray that he continues to get the help that he needs from some really good neighbors that care or two. Purchase a home with cash. That’s the reason for this post, below is a link to a go fund me that has been set up on his behalf to assist him in purchasing a home. If you were able to assist it would be appreciated. If you were able to share and help this campaign go viral not only would it help him but bring awareness to a cause that needs attention across the country. Because he is not the only one living like this and you could potentially help share someone else’s story similar to his.
