šŸŒŽ A Turning Point for Clean Energy

For the first time in history, renewable energy (solar and wind) has generated more electricity than coal. That milestone — may seem like a small percentage shift, but it represents something much bigger: momentum.

Globally, clean energy is accelerating faster than anyone expected. Solar alone met more than 80% of new global energy demand in 2025. India’s renewable buildout is outpacing its energy growth, and China installed more solar capacity than the rest of the world combined — helping other countries expand access to affordable, sustainable power.

This isn’t just policy—it’s physics and economics at work. Solar and wind are now, in many places, cheaper to build and operate than coal. That’s a true inflection point for our planet and our future.

There’s still uneven progress, and plenty of work ahead—especially here in the U.S.—but the direction is clear. The world is moving toward clean, renewable, resilient energy.

And at ecoPreserve, we’re proud to be part of that movement — helping communities and organizations turn sustainability goals into measurable impact.

Let’s keep the momentum going. šŸŒ±šŸ’Øā˜€ļø

Extreme Weather Affects Your Health – What Science Says

Climate change isn’t just about hotter summers—it directly impacts our health:

Heat waves: Increase risk of heatstroke, dehydration, and worsen heart or lung conditions.

Wildfire smoke: Triggers asthma, allergies, and other respiratory issues.

Flooding & storms: Can contaminate water, spread pathogens, and cause injuries.

Mental health: Disasters increase stress, anxiety, and long-term trauma.

āœ… What you can do: Stay informed about local alerts, protect yourself during extreme heat or smoke, and support resilient infrastructure and green spaces.

Why conserve wetlands?

An acre of wetlands can hold around 1 to 1.5 million gallons of water. As wetlands disappear, coastal flooding from storm surge and flooding inland along rivers will skyrocket.

When I moved to Florida 20 years ago, the Everglades were new to me. Since then, I’ve learned that protecting wetlands isn’t just about preserving nature—it’s about safeguarding our homes, water, and future. Did you know wetlands are natural flood barriers that absorb and slow down water dur...

Floods in the U.S. cost $92.9 billion in 2023 and $182.7 billion in 2024. As stronger and more frequent hurricanes spin up in warmer Atlantic waters, it's encouraging to know how five U.S. communities have become more resilient to storms and sea level rise.

Extreme storms and sea level rise have brought well-publicized catastrophes worldwide and to every U.S.

As International Women’s Day approaches, two books I’ve recently read have inspired me to reflect on the importance of this day. One is Lessons in Chemistry, which highlights the challenges women face in science and other male-dominated fields. The other, The Elements of Marie Curie by Dava Sobel, tells the story of a woman’s perseverance leading to remarkable achievements.

Both books recognize that women can and must shape science. I've seen that firsthand! My mother, Dr. Nancy J. Alexander, has made significant contributions through years of research and publications. Her career is a powerful example of resilience and determination. As one of the few women in her field, she broke barriers in reproductive health, impacting science and improving the lives of many, particularly women.

Mom’s groundbreaking work in contraception development at the National Institutes of Health changed the way we approach reproductive health. Her research helped give women more control over their reproductive choices, making contraceptives safer and more accessible. Beyond her research, she served on the boards of the World Health Organization and Planned Parenthood, fighting for reproductive rights and healthcare access around the world.

What fills me with pride is how my mom faced gender-based skepticism and never gave up. She proved that resilience and hard work can overcome any obstacle. She taught me that success isn’t just about talent or opportunity—it’s about pushing through challenges with determination.

As I think about my mom's legacy today, and especially on International Women’s Day, I’m reminded of women like Marie Curie and my mom, who didn’t just break new ground for themselves but for all of us. Their courage, sacrifices, and commitment to progress have changed the world. It’s up to us to carry their torch forward and work toward a more equal future.

The terrible flooding after Hurricane Helene passed through Asheville, N.C. was one of 27 $1B+ weather and climate-caused disasters in the U.S. last year.

In 2025, we are retreating from the problem. Risks won't be reduced by executive orders that cut over half of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff. The recently appointed EPA Administrator has recommended a further presidential action to rescind a 16-year-old finding that greenhouse gases (GHG) endanger human health and the environment.

It doesn't take massive research to confirm that GHGs endanger the environment and that atmospheric damage has raised global temperatures, warmed oceanic waters, fueled larger, stronger storms, and brought damage far inland from coastal landfall.

Published, journaled scientific research has confirmed the link between GHGs and the global climate impacts of fires, crop failures, record high temperatures, and fresh water shortages.

Removing GHG penalties and restrictions benefits those who produce and invest in petroleum and coal. The costs, suffering, and death go to the remaining humans. Proof is now available online, though vulnerable to removal -

Experts expect Trump’s team to lean on legal arguments, not science, to take down EPA’s 16-year-old endangerment finding.
