Please join us in congratulating our Director of Construction Administration, Phillip Randall, on his recent retirement! Phil served as an integral part of HuntonBrady for over two decades and led our team of construction administrators since 2004. His attention to detail and commitment to every project was evident to all those who worked alongside him.

Phil oversaw the construction process for hundreds of projects during his time here at HuntonBrady. One of his favorite projects, a multi-phased facility in Castle Rock, Colorado, allowed him to travel to Denver for four straight years. During his trips to visit the project site, Phil made friends with local musicians and often joined them for jam sessions.

When asked what he would miss most, Phil answered mentoring the “young'uns” – also known as our new team members. His mentorship spanned across departments, disciplines, and markets, and he was even teaching some of the staff how to play guitar during lunch! “I consider everyone at the firm to be friends and not coworkers. After 47 years in architecture and 22 years at HuntonBrady, I can assure you that this is truly the best place to work.”

Phil, you will be greatly missed in the office and on every jobsite, but we wish you all the best in retirement. From the entire HuntonBrady team, congratulations!

HuntonBrady recently celebrated the opening of AdventHealth’s newest medical office building (MOB) in Tavares, Florida. The Waterman MOB provides patients with easy, convenient access to services including imaging, cardiac care, and rehabilitation, which were originally located in the main hospital across the street. The 50,000 square foot building is planned for future tenants, providing additional healthcare services to Lake County.

Our team was inspired by the area’s history and landscape, which is reflected in the building’s design. The entrance canopy mimics the wings of seaplanes, paying homage to the City of Tavares designation as America’s Seaplane Capital. A glass curtainwall wraps around the corner of the building that faces the main road, forming a prominent gateway to welcome patients and visitors to the AdventHealth Waterman Campus.

Thank you to the AIA and SMPS Tampa Chapters for organizing a fantastic healthcare program earlier this month! We heard from keynote speaker Michelle Mader on what Florida and Tampa can expect in terms of demographics and their influence on healthcare strategy and implementation over the coming years. The second half of the event featured a moderated discussion covering a range of topics including access to care, flexible designs, caring for different generations, and quality of services. With over 300 healthcare professionals in attendance, our team had a great time learning and networking!

There’s no better way to start the week than out on the golf course! We had a great time joining our partners at Health First for their annual Golf Classic in Melbourne. The HuntonBrady team is currently working on multiple projects with the health system as they expand their high-quality care offerings along Florida’s east coast.

Thank you to Health First and Brasfield & Gorrie for inviting us out!

Throughout the month of April, we joined our partners at AdventHealth for multiple exciting events. We started off the month attending the Clays for Cardiac Care event, which supports cardiac services in Pasco County. The HuntonBrady Tampa team then celebrated the topping out of the new Courtyard Medical Office Building, which is scheduled for completion later this year. Last week, we participated in the Heartland Clays & Camo event and the Central Florida Golf Classic. Both events raised money for their respective campuses and the various services offered by AdventHealth.

We love getting to support our clients and communities at these great events!

AdventHealth recently celebrated the groundbreaking of their new Cancer Institute, a 12-story tower on their Downtown Orlando campus. Scheduled for completion in 2028, the Cancer Institute will serve as a central location for those seeking treatment and will also offer access to clinical trials and research. The facility’s design focuses on the entire healing process, while inspiring hope and trust for all patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.

The new cancer center will be located adjacent to Innovation Tower, which HuntonBrady previously completed in 2022. Together, these two facilities will further expand AdventHealth’s specialty services as they continue to provide innovative, whole-person care for Central Florida.

HuntonBrady Architects is honored and thankful to have played a part in the design of Florida Gulf Coast University’s new Health and Human Services project: Marieb Hall South.

The 158,000 square foot building, the largest on the FGCU Fort Myers Campus, will house state-of-the-art interprofessional simulation, various health sciences programs, immersive technology, virtual reality, AI, makerspace, critical care, labs, multi-purpose rooms, counseling, and behavioral services.

Construction has now started on this important project for not only the University, but for the surrounding Fort Myers community. We have greatly enjoyed the collaboration with our partners and look forward to Marieb Hall South's successful completion in Spring 2029.

Go Eagles!

Last week, several of our team members attended the Orlando Foundation for Architecture's (OFA) annual scholarship awards showcase. This event provides students enrolled in the 2+2+2 architecture pathway at Valencia College, UCF, and UF CityLab-Orlando with opportunities to present their projects.

Vice President Maurizio Maso and other industry leaders were honored for their continued support and contributions to the Orlando architectural community. Since the program first began in 2012, HuntonBrady has been working alongside our higher education partners and other local design firms to offer competitive architecture degrees right here in Downtown Orlando. Many of our staff are graduates, while others teach, volunteer, and mentor current students.

Congratulations to everyone who was honored at the event! We can’t wait to watch as the 2+2+2 program continues to grow and develop the next generation of architects!

This past Friday, we attended AdventHealth Medical Group - West Florida's annual fishing tournament in Tampa. Proceeds from this year’s event support AdventHealth’s Care 360° Program, which helps patients seamlessly transition from the hospital back to their homes after receiving treatment.

The HuntonBrady team joined our various partners at AdventHealth, DPR Construction, Marand Builders, Inc., and Layton Construction out on the water. While we didn't catch enough fish to place in the tournament, the group had a reel-y great day!
