⛵️ Stop Looking for the Perfect Boat. Start Looking for the Right Boat.

Great seminar this week at Pensacola Beach Yacht Club talking about one of my favorite subjects:

How do you actually choose the right boat?

We covered everything from how to buy a boat and new vs. pre-owned, to surveys, insurance, maintenance, ownership costs, and what to look for when evaluating a boat.

And, of course…

Monohull vs. multihull.

That was an easy one... 😉😂

We also took a closer look at Dragonfly, Seawind, and Corsair and what makes each platform unique.

But perhaps the biggest takeaway was this:

Don’t Overthink It.

I’ve watched people spend years searching for the perfect boat.

Here’s the reality:

The perfect boat doesn’t exist. The perfect boat is the one you are on at that time!

Every boat is a compromise.

The perfect layout might have the wrong price.
The perfect price might have the wrong equipment.
The perfect boat might be 1,000 miles away.
And the boat you’re waiting for might show up five years after you started looking.

At some point, you’ve got to make a decision.

Because the goal isn’t to own the perfect boat.

The goal is to go sailing. 🌊⛵️

So figure out what you want to do, get out there and sail the boats you’re considering, ask a lot of questions, get good professional advice, inspect carefully, understand the true cost of ownership…

…and then go sailing.

Life is short.

Don’t spend it sitting on the dock waiting for the perfect boat.

Great couple of days of Corsair 880 demo sailing on Lake Erie! ⛵️
We were able to experience a wide range of conditions, sailing angles, tactics, and boat handling.

We covered everything from the pros and cons of a self-tacking jib and choosing between a Code Zero and screacher, to storing the boat folded, tight-marina maneuvering, off-season planning, purchase and payment options, the buying process, orientation, and much more.

A fantastic trip with some great sailing and plenty of valuable conversations. Thanks to everyone who came out and sailed with us!

Pensacola Beach Multihull Race & Cruise Week

Hi Multihull Enthusiasts,

Calling all Corsair Marine, Dragonfly Trimarans, Seawind Catamarans, trailerable trimarans, beach cats, cruising cats, racing cats—and anything with more than one hull!

We’re excited to announce the first annual Pensacola Beach Multihull Race & Cruise Week—a laid-back but action-packed gathering designed to bring the multihull community together on and off the water.

What to expect:

Day races, distance races, and buoy racing
Casual group cruises and raft-ups
Beach BBQs and evening socials
Informal discussions, demos, and seminars
Plenty of time to connect with fellow multihull sailors
We’ll be using the Pensacola Beach Yacht Club as our central hub for food, drinks, and nightly gatherings, with nearby Little Sabine Bay serving as a convenient anchorage.

Participants are welcome (and encouraged) to stay aboard their boats, but there are also plenty of nearby hotels, short-term rentals, and campgrounds for those who prefer to stay ashore.

This event is designed to have a little something for everyone—whether you’re racing hard, cruising easy, or just looking to enjoy a great week on the water during one of the best times of year on the Gulf Coast.

Congratulations to Rob on his new Corsair 760R! ⛵️🎉

Rob is a lifelong sailor with decades of experience and a long history of owning and sailing a variety of boats. After years of monohull sailing, he finally made the jump to a performance multihull—and he won’t be going back!

Rob found the new-boat buying process with Windcraft Multihulls and Corsair Marine straightforward and enjoyable. He even followed his boat’s journey by tracking the cargo ship’s AIS from Vietnam to Florida before we delivered it to him in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, on Lake Michigan.

During our orientation, Rob quickly discovered what the 760R can do, seeing 11+ knots upwind and even higher speeds off the wind. Needless to say, he was hooked!

One of the biggest attractions for Rob is the 760R’s trailerability and self-sufficiency. He can handle his own off-season maintenance in an indoor garage and take advantage of the boat’s easy mast-raising and trailering capabilities—saving the expense and hassle of cranes, storage, winterization, and rigging services.

Rob originally took a look at the Corsair 760R by scheduling a showing with us. After seeing the boat firsthand, he pulled the trigger and added some excellent performance upgrades, including a Colligo ELHF system and Screacher package with Colligo Extra Light Furling.

Even better, Rob has generously made his new 760R available for prospective Windcraft customers who are considering ordering one themselves. 🎉 Congratulations to Ronnie on his new Corsair 880! 🎉

Ronnie has been an admirer of trailerable trimarans for quite some time, and once he decided it was time to make the dream a reality, he went all in. He’s a quick learner, asks the right questions, and takes the time to truly understand what he’s getting into. We love that kind of thinking.

Be bold. Be adventurous. Life is short. ⛵️

Ronnie brings a diverse sailing background, from large catamarans to a Catalina 22. He doesn’t discriminate—he just wants to get out there and go sailing!

He took multiple ASA courses, spent several days training with Windcraft Multihulls aboard different models, and ultimately determined that the Corsair 880 was the right boat for him. The fresh design, modern platform, trailerability, folding capabilities, self-sufficiency, and impressive performance all checked the boxes.

Most importantly, Ronnie knew what he wanted and put in the work to make it happen.

From the Adriatic to Denmark: A True Dragonfly Experience 🇮🇹🇸🇮🇩🇰

What better way to understand the Dragonfly experience than to actually sail one?

Recently, two of our customers embarked on an unforgettable Dragonfly adventure — beginning in the Trieste area of Italy with Peter Gattinger of Dragonfly Charters, where they spent several days learning to confidently skipper a Dragonfly 28.

Together, they sailed to Grado, Italy, and Piran, Slovenia, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with the unique handling and performance of a folding Dragonfly Trimaran.

The next trip, they traveled to Fredericia, Denmark, for the Dragonfly Tri-me experience and a tour of the factory. They sailed their DF28 throughout the beautiful islands and villages surrounding Fyn, experiencing everything from perfect sailing conditions to some seriously challenging winds! 🌬️⛵

As they put it:

“The strong winds were fantastic for sailing."

They also had the opportunity to tour a Dragonfly 40 at the dock and a Dragonfly 36 inside the factory, getting a firsthand look at the craftsmanship and construction that goes into these remarkable boats.

This is more than buying a boat. It's becoming part of the Dragonfly experience.
