This pool has three heaters: gas, electric, and now solar. Only one of them heats for free.

We installed seven Aquatherm EcoSun panels on the side roof of this New Smyrna Beach home. The solar handles the everyday heating with free heat from the sun, so the gas and electric heaters barely have to run anymore.

And it's all automatic. The system ties into the Hayward automation the customer already had, so he and his wife just pick the temperature they want. We put two solar attic fans on this Ormond Beach home, then climbed up on the roof to check the crew's work. They didn't even know we were coming. Here's what we found.

Most homes only need one attic fan. This ranch house is long, so it took two to properly vent both ends of the attic.

These units are built for Florida: marine grade aluminum, powder coated, with the solar panel built right into the top. Each one is rated for up to 2,500 square feet, and we oversize on purpose to move more air.

The install matters just as much as the hardware. The flashing goes up under the shingles so water sheds around the unit, we seal everything with a 50 year roof sealant, and we never cut into a structural truss.

The payoff shows up on your power bill. A cooler attic means your AC runs less all summer.

Yes, we can put solar pool heating on a tile roof. Barrel tile, flat tile, S tile, W tile. We have a mounting system for all of them.

On this New Smyrna Beach home we set seven panels on barrel tile using an aluminum sub rack underneath. Fewer roof penetrations, still meets Florida wind load, and everything mounts to the rack: panels, plumbing, hurricane strapping.

The whole system ties into the Hayward automation the customer already owned, so his solar runs from the app on his phone. He sets the pool temperature he wants and the system handles the rest, every day, on its own.

He even asked us to tuck the valves and controls behind the heat pump to keep them out of the hot afternoon sun. Done. Clean install, happy customer.

Free heat from the sun. That's the whole pitch.

This customer in New Smyrna Beach already had an electric heat pump on his pool, but running it was getting expensive. So we added solar pool heating on his tile roof.

Now the sun does the everyday heating for free, and the heat pump only kicks in when he really needs it. Best of both worlds, and a much lower power bill.

Here's how it works: the panels on the roof do the heating, and a valve system down at the pool pump sends water up when the panels are hot. Once the pool hits your set temperature, it shuts itself off. You don't touch a thing.

Three solar systems. One property. Here's the full walk-through.

This project has a separate inverter-only system on the barn (no battery, just offsetting daytime usage), and a main-house system with two full Tesla Powerwall 3s + expansion, fed by two matched ground mount arrays out in the cow pasture.

When the grid goes down, a Tesla Gateway flips the house to battery automatically. The customer doesn't have to think about it. The barn stays grid-tied. The house keeps running. The credits keep stacking.
