Happy Hump Day, Little Readers! Did you know that imaginative play is connected to your little reader’s reading development? Pretend play helps children understand the power of language ... this process helps your child make the connection between spoke and written language — a skill that will later help him/her learn to read. - Scholastic •

Hello Little Readers! What are you doing with your little ones on this gorgeous day? We decided to break out a sensory bucket and play with it on the patio! I love taking sensory buckets outside because the clean up is so much easier! Water beads that didn’t stay in the bucket? Those stay outside! Water beads are always in this bucket, but we change up the toys that we put in there! In picture one, my little reader has a muffin tin, scoop scissors and a cup. In picture 2, she has little people, little princesses and Sesame Street characters. She’s independently playing, singing and talking (to her little people) while I’m monitoring her play from a safe distance! Tag us in what you’re doing with your little reader today! •

If you’re happy it’s Friday and you know it clap your hands 👏🏻 👏🏻! Here’s a fun fact for your Friday night... “Singing encourages a child to express their emotions and sharpens their ability to communicate while exercising lip and tongue movement. But one of the biggest benefits of singing is the repeated use of the ‘memory muscle’”- theschoolrun.com so sing to those babies all day! They love it and they will be singing along with you before you know it!

When and why should we read to our BABIES?! Well honestly, you can start reading to that sweet bundle of joy as soon as you want. But we should definitely start reading to our babies between 0-3 months. Do they understand the story? NOPE. Do they really even know what you’re saying? Definitely not. But that’s not the point! You are helping their brains develop by teaching them vocabulary! Babies will start focusing their eyes on simple patterns. Books also introduce your baby to new colors, shapes and letters. Did you also know that it’s important to pick books that would be developmentally appropriate for infants? Not all books are the same! Also, reading to your baby is a great bonding experience too! •• and can we all just have all the 😍😍 for 2 month old Livi?
