The shocking assassination attempt on a former U.S. President and current presidential candidate has deeply disturbed us all. Regardless of political affiliation or beliefs, violence against any individual is intolerable but also not foreign to us in the United States.
This incident highlights the critical need for me as a Human Resouces Professional and Global Human Rights Advocate to continue to ask all for respect, civility, and inclusion in every facet of our lives—everywhere, with those we love, work with, and even those we disagree with. Our work in Human Resources and Global Human Rights goes beyond improving work environments; it’s about building a more just and unified society but it must take us all.
I commend our elected officials for some standing standing together and advocating for civility; with others who still have work to do. I urge all leaders and professionals; to lead with empathy and practice active listening as we resume the work week. The principles that should guide us through these challenging times include (they have been challenging times) so lets stop the madness together:
1️⃣ Respect for All:Ensuring every person is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or beliefs.
2️⃣ Transparent Communication: Promoting open, honest, and constructive conversations.
3️⃣ Empathy and Inclusivity: Striving to understand diverse perspectives and creating an environment where everyone feels valued.
Now is time for the moment to demonstrate civility in every interaction today and in the coming weeks, months, and years. Enough is enough.
Let’s work together to foster a more respectful and inclusive society. We owe it to ourselves and our children
