This is a fence in my backyard made of old iron headboards and footboards. I still have a few to put up and need to spray them with something to slow the rusting. The sidewalk leads down a few steps to my antique shop which I hope to open soon.

Recently, someone purchased a centuries-old home, and while showing the house to a friend he looked up and noticed a piece of the drop ceiling was falling in. Through the opening, he noticed rafters, basically what appeared to be an attic.

After much scrambling and climbing on chairs, they entered the space which had probably been sealed off for a hundred years. They discovered a virtual treasure trove of antiques, photographs, and paintings that appeared to be the private collection of noted photographer James Ellery Hale.

The owner believes that the space was used by Hale as a studio and so far he has uncovered more than a thousand antiques dating back over a hundred years, including an original print of the early feminist icon Susan B. Anthony, which is the same as that currently hanging in the Library of Congress. Other finds included furniture, photography equipment, decorative arts items, and a number of early twentieth-century portraits.

Experts have been brought in to authenticate the items which will be auctioned off later in the year.

The homeowner, an avid antique hunter himself said, "Everyone hopes to find treasure someday, and we actually did... it's incredible to think about."

Be sure to dig through the dusty boxes and get into your attic or cellar, you never know what treasures you will find.

Just want to check in and let you know that I am still around and I hope that you are all doing well. I had to change the website to Michelles Antique Appraisals. www.michellesantiqueappraisals.com the first page is still having issues and I am trying to correct the problem. I am always looking for good questions with excellent photos for my monthly column in Discover Vintage America. I really like pieces with a great story behind them. Feel free to post them here on the page. Take care everyone.

I love the clothes and style from the 1920s. If I can get my weight down to 100 lbs I might be able to get into one of those beautiful dresses. I have been watching Downton Abbey and pay more attention to the props than the storyline. Leigh Elmore wrote a great article about Art Deco in the 1920s in the January issue of Discover Vintage America.

BAR with mirror back, lazy susan (spins), light up side lights, red flocking
RECORD Player (on a slide out).
RADIO works.
8 TRACK player. Has not been tested..
FAUX FIREPLACE
Lights up.

1970s Phono-Sonic Kitsch All in One, Bar, Faux Fireplace, Radio 8 track player, record player

I am selling this for a friend otherwise it would be in my house. Awesome kitsch all in one bar, stereo, 8 track player, faux fireplace with a red light bulb behind the "logs", we are also including a serving tray and graphic glasses including a glass ice bucket. The speakers are behind red velveteen panels on either side of the fireplace.

The wood is in perfect condition, all hinges work, the stereo and speakers sound amazing. We could not locate an 8 track tape to test the player. I also failed to count the glassware, there are stemmed cordial glasses, highball glasses, shot glasses. I will try to get back over and get a better photo and count them.

Each panel drops down and behind one is the turntable on a slideout and the receiver. The other panel reveals the bar, it is on a lazy susan, turn it around to reveal the glassware. The wood is beautiful.

I did find a patent for this entertainment center in November 1972 by the Phono-Sonic Radio Corporation. According to the records, it looks like the company dissolved in the late 1970s. They made a console TV/stereo system and several styles of stereos. Rumor has it that this was made in E. Germany yet I could not find any evidence supporting this claim.

Size 50" wide by 45" tall by 19.25" deep. It is heavy so please bring help to pick it up or make arrangements for shipping.

$1200.00 - - please make a reasonable offer
