The introductory trauma-sensitive yoga/movement workshop will be Saturday, September 16th from 9:00am-4:00pm at Seeking Solace Yoga in Overland Park, Kansas. The registration will be up soon through Eventbrite. The morning session will focus on understanding trauma and its impact--also the types of trauma and trauma theory. The afternoon will focus on integrating trauma theory within traditional yoga and an introductory practice of trauma-sensitive yoga/movement. The beauty of this workshop is that it will be a small group of only about 12 attendees to afford greater opportunity of reflection, sharing, collaboration, learning, practicing this important diversity-based area of yoga sensitivity and inclusiveness. You don't want to miss this workshop!! The cost of the entire 6 hour session is $169 (early bird and $199 regular. I will be the facilitator of this workshop. I am a 200 hour yoga teacher and licensed clinical social worker in the state of Kansas and Missouri, mindfulness-based-stress reduction (MBSR) and mindful-self compassion (MSC) instructor, and certified Boston Trauma Center -trauma-sensitive yoga facilitator (TCTSY-FA). David Emerson and Jennifer Turner were my trainers. I specialize in trauma treatment and diversity. Also, I am part of the PTSD unit for veterans at the Kansas City VA. I have been facilitating a trauma-sensitive yoga class called Mindful Warrior Yoga for 3 years.
There will be a repeat of this workshop on Saturday November 11 at the same time. Let me know if you have questions.
