It's that time of the year again...time for businesses to prepare, mail and file their 1099 forms.
Over the past few years, the IRS has increased their 1099 enforcement efforts and the penalties for not filing can be severe.
Failing to file a required Form 1099 can result in IRS penalties ranging from $60 to $340 per form, depending on how late the form is filed. If the failure is due to intentional disregard, the penalty is a minimum of $680 per form with no maximum.
There's good news, Fleming Advisors has a step-by-step DIY guide for business owners on preparing 1099 forms. To download the guide, you simply create a free account with Fleming Advisors where the full document can be downloaded. Here's the link: https://portal.fleming-advisors.com/login?step=signUp
