Can you âwinâ by using aftermarket ink and toner cartridges? it is obvious when you compare the cost of the name brand printer cartridges (OEM) to aftermarket cartridges there is a great savings potential in utilizing aftermarket cartridges. But, is switching really worth it. Hereâs a couple of pointers if you are considering giving aftermarket cartridges a try.
First, choose a reputable supplier who offers quality products; there are a lot of inferior aftermarket cartridges out there, so, be careful. At least have a point of contact with the supplier that you feel good about. Secondly, whether you choose remanufactured cartridges (rebuilt OEM), or compatible cartridges (new-build, non-OEM), the failure rate may be a bit higher than OEM cartridges (OEM cartridges do fail sometimes, too). In other words, from time to time you may get a cartridge that doesnât work properly. And, you have to understand that. But, when it does happen, you need to know your supplierâs exchange/return/refund policies and how they work. And, how long the process takes. This, of course, is why you want to buy from someone you trust. If you choose an inferior product, from a not so reputable supplier, most likely the failure rate will be much higher, and the supplier wonât stand behind the product, and that will turn you against all aftermarket cartridges forever. As a result, youâll continue to spend a lot of money on OEM printer cartridges.
