Here's a little tip. Many people think to preserve ink one should avoid printing as much as possible. And, while printing less does save ink, the fact of the matter is, to keep ink flowing through the printer heads, you should print a least a couple of pages every week. It sounds counter-intuitive, but, if an inkjet printer sets too long without running ink through it, the ink can dry out in the heads, and, as a result, the printer may not print at all.
As always, please feel free to contact us for ink, toner, PPE supplies or free advise.

Thanks!

Xerox using aftermarket cartridges

Xerox, the largest managed print solutions(MPS) company in America, is using new build compatible cartridges from China in their leasing program, according to a recent article published by RT Media.

According to the report, Xerox will be using cartridges supplied by a couple of different manufacturers. Which brings me to this very simple point, obviously, aftermarket cartridges have gotten better in the last few years; if they hadn't, I don't think Xerox would be using them.

So, if you haven't tried aftermarket cartridges from a reputable firm, maybe now's the time to give it another shot; it could save you a lot of money! We're here to help. Just give us a call.

Thanks!

Should you buy an HP printer?

It sounds like HP is still at it. They continue to send out firmware via the internet that blocks the use of aftermarket cartridges.

According to sources, people are abandoning the use of HP printers for this reason. OEM ink can be very expensive; many believe they should have the right to decide what cartridges they use in their printers, rather than being locked in to only using the HP brand.

What do you think? Is it fair for HP to do this?

Compatible versus re-manufactured toner.

All aftermarket cartridges aren't the same. Most people assume that aftermarket cartridges are simply re-manufactured name-brand (OEM) products. However, that is not the case.

Compatible cartridges are the "other" type of aftermarket toner cartridge. The difference being that compatible cartridges, sometimes referred to as "new build" cartridges, are newly manufactured cartridges and do not use an empty OEM cartridge in the process. Re-manufactured cartridges are typically more expensive, as the cost to gather empty cartridges and labor costs can be quite high. Compatible cartridge builders use streamlined manufacturing processes and don't incur the cost of procuring empty cartridges to rebuild; this keeps costs low, and as a result, compatibles are usually more affordable.

But, Is one type better than the other? Not Necessarily. It depends on the practices of the companies that produce the product, do they use quality parts and toner or do they cut corners and sacrifice quality.

At Toner Central, we provide premium compatible cartridges at competitive prices. Our cartridges come from factories that we have worked with for years and are known for quality. As a result, all of our toners carry a full one-year replacement or refund guarantee. Let us be of service to you. Contact us today for pricing and availability.

In Touch News reported recently that HP has done it again. In the past they've sent out downloads via the internet that contain firmware that will cause aftermarket cartridges not to work. The firmware was mainly downloaded to inkjet printers. They did such a download earlier this year when they realized, because of COVID-19, many people would be working from home using inkjet printers!

Now they have done it again! Only this time they are targeting laser printers. On certain printers, when you install an HP brand cartridge, firmware is automatically downloaded, via the cartridge's chip, that causes aftermarket cartridges not to work!

That's why, whenever possible, I try to deal with someone local that I know and trust. Obviously, I don't know of any local printer manufacturers, but, so many times, when dealing with many of these giant companies, it's hard to get satisfaction when things go wrong.

At Toner Central, we're small enough to care and large enough to get the job done. Let us know if we can be of service to you.

Know the cost per page

Here's a little tip. When researching new printers/copiers that you might want to purchase, take a closer look at the cartridges they use. In the case of monochrome printers (only prints in black), check out the page yield of the cartridge. In round numbers, if a cartridge costs $50 and it's page yield is 2,300 pages, divide 50 by 2,300 and you get 0.0217. Approximately 2 cents is your cost per page for toner. Compare the cost per page of each printers cartridge(s) to help determine which printer has the lowest cost per page to print.

One option to reduce the cost per page is to find a quality aftermarket cartridge that costs significantly less. We can help you there. Give us a call; even though we don't sell printers, we'll be glad to help you with your decision. (PIOG)

Have a great day!

Is saving some money worth it?
Sounds like a silly question, right? Of course, we all want to save money! The problem is spending your hard earned dollars with that huge online company will cost you and your community in the long run. How so, you ask?

Consider this, over time, more local businesses go down the drain. And, for many products, the only place to buy them is online with very little competition for these online giants. Then what happens? They raise prices to whatever level that see fit! As a result, you could be paying far more than you would have ever paid locally because of local competition that helps to keep prices of goods and services in check.

But, in addition, when you buy locally, you are supporting your neighbors whose kids go to the same schools that your kids go to. They go to local churches, movie theaters, gas stations, etc., just like you do. Plus, there's the higher level of service provided by local businesses. And, there's the added bonus of knowing the person you're dealing with.

It's definitely something to think about. Do you "invest" your hard earned money buy shopping local, and gain the benefits of doing so, or support an online giant with many questionable practices (and, that's a whole other issue).

We're a local supplier of compatible toner cartridges. Contact us for pricing. We would love the opportunity to be of service to you.

Should you rethink using only name-brand (OEM) printer cartridges?

People who haven't tried aftermarket cartridges recently, may not realize that the quality of these type of cartridges has improved significantly in recent years. In many cases, construction, print quality, and page-yield can rival that of the OEMs. We only offer the best compatible cartridges available. Perhaps, it's time to give us an opportunity to earn your business with quality, price and service.

How to replace Brother toner cartridges.

Occasionally, I get a call from a customer who is replacing their first toner cartridge on a Brother monochrome laser printer. Usually, they tell me that the cartridge we shipped them is much smaller than the one they took out, and obviously, the new toner won't begin to fit.

What they don't realize is that the toner cartridge sits in a drum. When you remove the cartridge from the printer, you're actually removing the drum and the cartridge at the same time. The cartridge has to be separated from the drum by means of a little lever on the drum that releases the toner cartridge. Then you can simply click the new toner into the drum and install the whole assembly back into the printer.

If you're still unsure of how to replace a cartridge, give us a call, we're glad to help. Good luck!

Can you “win” by using aftermarket ink and toner cartridges? it is obvious when you compare the cost of the name brand printer cartridges (OEM) to aftermarket cartridges there is a great savings potential in utilizing aftermarket cartridges. But, is switching really worth it. Here’s a couple of pointers if you are considering giving aftermarket cartridges a try.

First, choose a reputable supplier who offers quality products; there are a lot of inferior aftermarket cartridges out there, so, be careful. At least have a point of contact with the supplier that you feel good about. Secondly, whether you choose remanufactured cartridges (rebuilt OEM), or compatible cartridges (new-build, non-OEM), the failure rate may be a bit higher than OEM cartridges (OEM cartridges do fail sometimes, too). In other words, from time to time you may get a cartridge that doesn’t work properly. And, you have to understand that. But, when it does happen, you need to know your supplier’s exchange/return/refund policies and how they work. And, how long the process takes. This, of course, is why you want to buy from someone you trust. If you choose an inferior product, from a not so reputable supplier, most likely the failure rate will be much higher, and the supplier won’t stand behind the product, and that will turn you against all aftermarket cartridges forever. As a result, you’ll continue to spend a lot of money on OEM printer cartridges.

At Toner Central, we are a family-owned and operated company with family values. If you happen to get a “bad” cartridge, we’ll immediately send out a new replacement at no charge. And, we’ll issue you a $10 credit just for the inconvenience! Plus, we even offer terms to qualifying customers. You CAN “win” with our premium quality compatible cartridges. Contact us today and find out how.
