A wonderful video that I grabbed off of one of the many sign forums I belong to. Great info from this shop explaining the limitations of Ai and how we can build from the inital concept. Pixelation and phantom ghost images will not make a good print.

Did you know we can also do metal signs of all types? Not only do we do great hand carved work but also vinyl graphics for rigid aluminum, PVC, raised lettering and logos plus banners and more! So if you're in talks with us regarding a carved sign that you have your heart on but suddenly realize it's out of your budget don't be afraid to ask if we have other options! No need to turn tail and try other shops "just because" you're concerned that you might bruise our ego (seriously, it won't).

Many times a client will ask about the price of a sign. Each one is completely different due to many reasons but the one thing for sure is that it's the best value of advertising for their business over the life of their sign. Be it vehicle graphics or a post and panel or window lettering - do the math. How many years do you expect it to be up, divide your initial costs by that and again by 12 for your average cost per month of the life of that sign. Now....if you have one of our HDU carved signs and it needs to be refinished at an average life of 12-15 years (again many factors) we most likely can refurbish it for a percentage of a new panel gaining you another 12 to 15 in life. That alone reduces your cost per month even more.

Knowledge of good composition helps to get a solid message across to your customers. Adding a touch of dimension, and sometimes a little "sparkle", can catch their eye a little quicker when passing by triggering a thought of, "What did I just pass by?"

Sometimes that driver stops and turns around to check you out.

Important tip for maintaining your gold leaf sign: don't rub the gold as it can come off and you'll be facing current market pricing to replace. Gold is inert and won't discolor, rust or fade. Gently clean your signs with a mild soap and a soft paint brush. Spash with some water to rinse off and you're good to go. Don't forget to get those pesky insect nest and paint-eating bird poops off too.

Ai is on my mind. This is a wonderfully curious time with what is becoming available to us all and one that I hope can help build positive growth in our future. That being said I need to bring to light a few interesting conversations lately with a few clients who are interested in doing signs with "logos" they've created online using Ai tools.

Firstly is the fact that Ai imagry cannot be legally copyrighted for your logos or trademarks as it's not human generated. We can help recreate an image you start with but understand it won't be 100% the same as what was originally generated for you. Second is the artwork that you receive will NOT be of camera ready quality - aka 300 dpi, 4k, vector, etc. Ai doesn't know the difference between a high quality image when you ask for it and it meerly creates a bigger picture - not a better quality picture. This poses issues when we try to import it into our design software to create our base templates as a fuzzy image is very difficult for the software to read the edges.

So - my proposal is this. Let's start with what you've created and discuss how to can try to rebuild it or make it even better with our tried and true techniques that we already use.

2026 is proving to be a very exciting year so far and it's only the end of January. I for one can't wait to see what we get to create this year!
