This Memorial Day, we stand united in remembrance. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

At SCAGGS Site Development, we take a moment to look at the work we do, the land we shape, and the communities we build. But today, our deepest respect and tribute belong to the fallen heroes who sacrificed everything to give us this opportunity.

We honor their service, their courage, and their ultimate sacrifice. From our fields of development to the permanent walls of memory, we promise to never forget.

Our machinery may pause, but our gratitude for those who paid the highest price will not.

"We Remember, We Honor, We Pay Tribute to the Fallen."

Heavy rain hits—your schedule is next?

We’ve seen it happen: a clean demo and grade plan turns into rutted access roads and soft subgrade by day two. That’s when we switch from ā€œplanned progressā€ to ā€œweather-proof protection.ā€

Before heavy weather, we align our plan to the site—then adjust fast when the forecast changes:
- Tighten base prep (softer ground = more attention to compaction and support)
- Re-sequence demolition and grading to keep equipment moving
- Revise the schedule to protect slopes, drainage, and the next phase

The goal: keep the job on track without cutting corners on site conditions.

This Mother's Day, we at Scaggs Site Development want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who wear many hats—the hard hats on our sites and the invaluable 'hats' they wear at home. We are proud to honor all mothers in construction and beyond for your strength, your skill, and your dedication. Happy Mother's Day! 🌸🚜

We’ve seen it too many times: a client budgets equipment, locks in a start date, then permits stall—so the clock keeps running and the job costs more.

Our ā€œpermits-firstā€ planning hack takes 10 minutes. Before we schedule equipment, we make a quick checklist of the permit/info your county typically requests for excavation, like:

Site/address details
Planned footprint (what’s being disturbed)
Proposed timelines and phases
Utility marking coordination (who’s responsible and when)

Then we use that checklist to request clear estimates—so delays don’t blow up your schedule.

Grading sets the stage—proper slopes prevent water pooling and foundation issues.

Drainage directs water away, protecting your site from flooding damage.

Environmental impact matters—respecting nature keeps projects sustainable and avoids costly setbacks.

In an effort to lower our carbon footprint, Scaggs Excavating is going 100% Organic. 🌱

Meet the newest members of the fleet: The Bark-Hoes. šŸ•šŸ¾

They’re highly motivated, work for treats, and have a natural instinct for digging holes exactly where you didn’t ask for them. Note: Project timelines may be slightly delayed due to mandatory squirrel-chasing breaks and afternoon naps.

BIG news at Scaggs Excavating! 🚜✨

We’ve officially traded in our excavators for the new Scaggs Stealth-Dig 3000. Using proprietary "invisible dirt" technology, we can now dig a 10-foot trench without moving a single grain of visible soil.

No mess, no piles, no proof we were ever there. (Which, coincidentally, is also what my kids say when the cookies go missing.) šŸŖ
