In trying to establish a "theater scene" in my small town, I am re-learning how to parallel implement: bottom up and top down. And how to pivot.
The bottom-up: open-to-the-public table readings of original work. Acting experience not required. Who wants to carry the weight of another character for ten minutes at a time? This part is going great.
The top-down: set a date for a staged production. Make it happen.
Except I need trained actors before I need a date. So the pivot: find the actors first, then set the date.
Does postponing the first production feel like a failure? Gotta walk before you run.
