Here's a plant most homeowners have never heard of — but should. 👇

Skimmia japonica 'Female' is one of the best-kept secrets for shaded areas on Long Island: it's deer-resistant, stays neat without constant pruning, and produces berries when planted near a male skimmia for pollination.

We use it in foundation plantings, shaded entry gardens, and woodland edges where most evergreens just won't grow.

Meet the shrub that does it all: fragrant spring blooms 🤍, glossy summer green, and fall color that rivals the maples 🍁

Itea 'Virginia Sweetspire' is native to the Northeast, which means it's already built for what our properties throw at it — wet soil, part shade, deer pressure, freeze-thaw winters. Low maintenance, high impact.

We use it in foundation beds, mass plantings, poolside borders, and anywhere drainage is a challenge. If you want four-season interest without four seasons of upkeep, this is the plant.
