Owning a small business is not an easy task. There's lots of stress...lots of sleepless nights.
These past two weeks have been stressful for us. Two weeks ago...a day before the snow hit...we had to put the truck in the shop. Because of that, Bill had to turn our personal truck into a trash truck...put rails on it, etc. It is smaller than the trash truck.
The weather stopped us for 4 days and the dump was closed.
All of this put us behind picking up trash and all of those things were out of our control.
Bill has busted his tail...literally...he fell a couple of times...trying to get all of our customers picked up.
I send customers messages any time there is a change in schedule pick up or any other changes.
We had to ask our customers to limit their amount of trash that we pick up this week because the truck is smaller. Not something we wanted to do. Bill will be picking up trash this weekend...the time he should have off with his family. And it's his grandaughter's birthday.
We work hard at being reliable and dependable.
Most people were very understanding of our situation.
Unfortunately, some were not.
We were called liars...that we made up excuses not to get the trash. I received nasty, hateful text messages.
We try...honestly we do.
I would be happy to provide the phone number to both the shop where are truck is and the number to the dump to confirm that they were closed during the snow.
I would tell anyone to ride one route to see what he deals with on a daily basis....weather, road issues, animals, etc.
I don't mean this to be a gripe or sympathy post....more of a trying to explain post.
