Another great adventure with Family Service Society! Where our students had the opportunity to learn about preparing simple crockpot meals! And E won a prize! Who knew building independent living skills could be this much fun? Experiences like these make learning practical, engaging, and memorable.

Tip Tuesday #11: Discuss appropriate workplace topics versus personal topics.

Build Independence One Step at a Time

Students with disabilities often thrive when given opportunities to practice skills independently. Instead of completing a task for them, try breaking it into smaller steps and providing support only when needed.

Small successes build confidence, confidence builds independence, and independence opens doors to future employment and community involvement.
