Maybe I’m a bit biased because I’m his wife 😅, but I’ve always known what a good man Mac/Olen is, so it’s great to see him acknowledged this way. I’m so thankful for my friend and former AC guy!! (He moved 😞)
One of my rentals was experiencing AC problems. I called a company to come check it out. Was told I needed a new unit. Gonna cost me almost $20,000!!!!! I was blown away but figured the price of products and labor had escalated since 2020. The 2 ton unit was put in by my friend Mac in 2012 for less than $4000. I was so concerned that my tenants not be without air that I immediately said ok and signed up with the loan company that the company I had called used. To the tune of $262 a month for 12 years. But as the day and night went on with me turning that $20,000 figure round and round in my head I thought this can’t be right. So I called my former AC man & friend Mac to get his opinion. Turns out I was right. (I called the first AC company and the loan company and canceled my contracts.) He said the average going rate in Texas should be around $7000 for a new unit. He put me in touch with the company he used to work with before he moved - Artic Air. And it was a game changer. Austin at Artic Air recommended first taking the existing unit out and cleaning and replacing whatever needed to be replaced and let it run for however many years it has left. Then when it finally needs replacing he will put a bigger 2 1/2 ton unit in for $7400!!! What a savings!! Austin was able to clean, replace parts & repair the base the unit stood on for $2250. I’m so extremely thankful to Mac for steering me into the right direction and helping me get connected with someone who will not take advantage of me and will do a fabulous job!
