Southern Tier Logistics is giving back to the communities we call home 🏡

Last Friday, members of the team participated in the United Way Day of Action at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Elmira, New York.

Our volunteers spent the day w**d eating, cleaning gravestones, trimming trees and bushes, power washing equipment, and helping beautify the grounds.

It was a great opportunity to roll up our sleeves, work together, and make a positive impact in our community.

Thank you to United Way for organizing another successful Day of Action and to our associates who volunteered their time to help make a difference.

Throughout the day, our associates are reviewing best practices, discussing recent learnings, identifying potential hazards, and reinforcing the habits that help keep everyone safe.

Before it was Southern Tier Logistics Business Park, it helped support a world at war.

In 1942, the U.S. Army established the Holding and Reconsignment Point in Horseheads, New York, recognizing the area’s strategic rail access and transportation network.

One of only ten facilities of its kind nationwide, the site served as a critical collection and storage point for military equipment destined for overseas deployment.

At its peak, the facility featured:

✔ 1.5 million square feet of storage
✔ 37 miles of railroad track
✔ Hundreds of civilian and military personnel

More than 80 years later, the site continues to serve as a transportation and logistics hub, proving that strategic infrastructure never goes out of style.
