Reality Check: Spot the Phish 🎣

The email says "Q4 Payment Schedule.pdf was shared with you." It looks routine, but here's what we'd catch:

1. The sender's domain isn't anyone you actually work with
2. "A colleague" shared it, but no name is given
3. "Link expires in 24 hours" is pressure to make you skip the check
4. Hover over the button and it goes to an unfamiliar sign-in page

A real shared file comes from someone you know, using a tool your company already uses. If you're unsure, message the sender on a different channel, or call us before you click.

REALITY CHECK: The invoice that changed one digit.

Picture this: A familiar vendor sends its usual invoice. The name and amount look right. But the account number ends in 4187, while your approved vendor record says 4186.

It could be an error—or an attempt to redirect the payment. Either way, pause. Don’t verify by replying to the email. Call the vendor using the number already in your records, confirm the full payment details, and document who approved the change before sending an ACH or wire.

Before heading into the weekend, dial the public number on your website or Google Business Profile from your cell phone. Listen as a customer would:

✓ Does it reach the right person or menu?
✓ Is the greeting current and clear?
✓ Does a test voicemail reach the right person?

If something is off, ask your phone or IT team to check the routing. It’s a small test that could uncover a missed connection before a client does.
